Random hose on 2002 4.7?

I know this can't really be a random hose, but I found this today when looking around inside the bay. It was uncapped, but I found this random cap as well so I put the two together and drove 2 miles before parking it. I'm concerned. What is this hose and where should it go?

Duck and ducklings trapped on interior shoulder of 14 West just before I5. Who can help?

Could not get through to police non-emergency. Don't know who else to call. It's tight quarters and high speed in that area so I was not able to stop.

Update: She has been picked up!

Moving and I can't take her with me. Very easy care. Wonderful plant. Pick up in NE near Lombard and Vancouver.
