Luba 1 Battery Replacement
Last summer I noticed that my OG Kickstarter Luba 1 wasn't able to do as much on a single charge as it had been. The grass was down and maintained but where it was doing it with one stop to recharge it was now needing 3 or sometimes 4 charges to complete the main lawn task. I felt that this must be a bad battery, so I contacted support and purchased a replacement. It was €270 including vat and shipping iirc. I had planned to take it in to do the repair but when this problem happened there was only 6-8 weeks left in the season so I decided that I would do it as part of the out of season maintenance. It was of course long fingered and done in March, before this year's season began.
The repair is very simple. For Luba 1 you need a hex screwdriver and a pick to clean out the screws before starting. Cleaning the screw heads is vital otherwise you will strip the heads and then it a substantially harder task.
To begin, turn Luba over and remove the cutting disk and cutting guard. Clean underneath and inspect the rubber boots. Next remove all the screws around the perimeter. Number and label each as you remove them as they are different lengths. Finally removed the centre screws. Do not remove the three screws around each of the blade hub motors. These hold the blade chassis in place and if you remove these and take the covers off you will break the internal antennas.
