Help! Building an experimental guitar - Teisco neck pickup + Gibson P-94T bridge in a Duo-Sonic

Hey everyone! (and apologies if I haven’t posted this in the right Reddit places)

I’ve got Mexican player Duo Sonic, bought in 2019, and I’m thinking about turning it into a kinda experimental recording guitar but also something I can play in a band with.

My plan is to combine two sounds I really like, the vintage teisco or gold foil style single coil in the neck, trying to get somewhere near Mac DeMarco’s old cardboard queen tone, and a Gibson P-94T in the bridge the same one Nick Valensi uses (I think)

I’m not trying to sound exactly like either guitar I mostly like the idea of having a really jangly, slightly weird, low output neck sound and a much thicker, more aggressive P-90-style bridge sound and combining them.

My main questions are

Would these two pickups actually work well together? Has anyone tried pairing an old Japanese/Teisco-style pickup with a P-90 or P-94?

Would you go for an actual vintage Japanese pickup, or something modern like a lipstick/gold-foil style pickup for reliability?

I’d like to avoid routing the body and just have a custom pickguard made so I can keep costs down. I’m not really that bothered about returning it to stock. Is this a good idea?
