The splurgeging

Finally pulled the trigger. Is it necessary? Probably not, but I think it deserves at least a try. Installation and setup ahead.

Feelgood Fatcat III & Old Steed III - More pickups more fun!

Howdy gang! 🤠

Just finished up this triple pickup "Old Steed III" and i instantly was reminded of an almost matching Fatcat build we finished up last year. Both are an absolute dream to play and with the Bass VI style wiring and 3 pickups, they actually manage to capture a little strat style middle position quack! I think triple pickup offsets are sorely underrated and underrepresented, and this is my way of inspiring you all to consider a triple pickup future lol

Old Steed III - Alder body, maple neck, "hippie stain" brown closet clean nitro finish with matching neck. Tort guard, Custom set of 3 Tone Hatch handwound jaguar pickups, Bass VI wiring

Fatcat III - Alder body, maple neck, B&B, 3-tone "Target Burst" nitro finish, Spitfire tort guard, 3x Custom Jaguar pickups, Bass VI wiring

I feel like these just look too good side by side! Which is your favorite??

Bring out ya torts!

I got this guard from musiclily, I’ve always liked the quality of their parts. Obviously, not exactly a faithful recreation of a vintage Tort guard, but it really brings out the best of the desert sand on this guitar and I’m obsessed. Just wanted to ask where everyone else bought their tort guards from?

Squier Jaguar Replacement Neck

Hey everyone,

I’ve got a Squier Vintage Modified Jaguar that needs a new neck and I’m trying to figure out the most reliable option. Ideally I just want something that bolts on and is basically ready to go without turning this into a full project and right now I have my eyes on the MIM jaguar necks. This is a sentimental guitar for me so I’m all for an upgrade that will enhance playability, which is why a squier neck would be my second choice.

I’m wondering if the Fender replacement necks sold on their website are a straightforward fit for these Jaguars. I can get 10% off Fender parts, so if they’re truly ready to go, that might be the best route. The main thing I’m trying to avoid is ending up with extra fretwork. I don’t mind a basic setup, but I don’t want to buy a neck and immediately have to pay for leveling or major work.

On the other hand, I’ve seen a lot of Stratosphere necks on eBay that are taken straight off new guitars. They seem appealing because in theory they’re already broken in, and possibly closer to “plug and play.” But they’re also a little more expensive, so I’m not sure if the extra cost is actually worth it.

If anyone has experience with Fender replacement necks for jaguars specifically, or has gone the Stratosphere route, I’d really appreciate your thoughts

Yamaha Flying Samurai Reissue

Thought yall might enjoy this. Rare guitars, I've never seen another with this pickup config in person.

I'm a massive shoegaze fan that's never owned a Jazzmaster or Jaguar though so I've got this one currently up for trade. Wish me luck.

Not trying to sell here just sharing bc it might be interesting to some***

NGD; Tone Bakery Jazzbird with a TWT neck

Got this recently on the trade sub and fell in love with it. Has a 25.5 scale and a 5 way selector, so it sounds like a Firebird and plays like a strat. Slapped a TWT neck from China on it, shockingly good for a $50 neck.

Squier Affinity Jaguar

Fitted an MIA pickguard, swapped out the maple neck for a rosewood/mahogany one

Swapped pots for 500k vol and 250k tone CTS pots and added a treble bleed with an oil capacitor

For the neck I got a used staggered strat middle pickup and a used handmade humbucker

Does somebody know the wiring on the squier cyclone paranormal series?

Hi, I'm trying to mod a sonic mustang into something similar to this cyclone, but I can't find anywhere the wiring diagram. Dose somebody know anything about it?

Squier Paranormal Jazzmaster XIIBridge?

I am wondering if anyone with Squier Paranormal Jazzmaster XII would be able to measure the bridge screw spacing or provide information on other bridges that fit(so I can get that info).

I have a CV Jazzmaster with an RGI aluminum neck on it but I just don't know if I love the bridge and never use the trem. I am hoping that I can swap the bridge on the paranormal to a hardtail and put the aluminum neck on it as I love the Jazzmaster body shape. I know there is a hardtail affinity Jazzmaster out there but there aren't any available locally but there are a few decently priced paranormals.

Left should limitation, Jag vs Mustang

I have a bad left shoulder. Need a total replacement at some point. The reach to the 1st fret on a Strat is a bit painful. But, 2nd fret is just fine. Was thinking of trying a Jaguar or a Mustang.

There isn’t a Mustang at my local store to try. Anyone have both and can give me an idea of which one has the shortest reach out to the nut?

Finally acquired my dream guitar after almost 20 years!

I’ve long been a Dinosaur Jr fanatic and have wanted one of these MIJ J Mascis signature guitars since I first played one at a Sam Ash in high school (2008). Sadly I didn’t have the $700 or so at the time and have just been sitting here watching them climb in price ever since.

There are 2 near me for sale that are ~$3500 so I was starting to give up faith that I’d ever actually own one until I saw this pop up on Reverb for welllll under that price and knew I had to finally do it.

I’ve read mixed things about playability on these and was thinking I might have to swap the pickups and bridge on it but once I started playing it I honestly had no qualms with either. This thing was setup by the shop I purchased from (The Guitar Rescue!) and plays and sounds like an absolute dream.

Thanks for reading my little diatribe, I’m just so stoked to finally have one of these after so many years! Happy to add it to my offset collection of 4 other Jazzmasters and 1 Jaguar :).
