Finally built my grill cart
Been wanting to do this for a couple years, I finally just did it over a couple days. I bought a second hand performer for a steal over a year ago, intending to repurpose the kettle with the welded braces and no handle. But I ended up just using the performer for a long time LOL.
I used Claude and asked it to look at the page of the Yellawood Grill Table kit on the Home Depot website, and create a lumber list and cut list, but extend it to 60". I had to correct it a couple times, and it didn't do a perfect job, but eventually I got a very usable shopping and cut list that worked.
I have never loved the standard design where a hole is cut for the kettle. Both because I hate trying to draw and cut a perfect clean hole, but also I always wanted a little more clearance from the heat. So I left a cavity simply by leaving some boards out, and I mounted it on some aluminum bars. So I think that part of the design is my own innovation LOL.
Two hooks on the side holds the lid by it's handle. I'd like a more elegant solution eventually, but I'll see if this is satisfactory. It seems pretty easy to put the lid on and off.
