How often do you clean your grill?

I used the sear zone last night and the grill was really flaming up. I pulled it a part for a full cleaning today. Have only had this one less than a month. What is recommended for cleaning?

My Genesis igniter finally died after 33 years

My father bought this 3 burner Genesis in 1993. When I moved out to a house, he got himself new one with a side burner so he gave me his original in 2004.

Over the years I upgraded to stainless grates and flavorizers, replaced the crossover tube and the plastic-wood platform that melted a bit after a grease fire in the lower basin... But the igniter soldiered on.

Until now, 33 years later. After some hit or miss last year, the internal plunger spring wouldn't engage to click at all this summer so it was time for a replacement. I'm amazed it made it this long so I thought I'd share. I doubt the replacement igniter will last as long but we shall see.

She's old and a bit dirty but still cooks well!

MasterTouch 22" or 26"?

Getting my first proper Weber Kettle and while I love the extra space of the 26" I'm concerned about the accessories available. Essentially aside from grilling I will:

  • griddle
  • rotisserie
  • [make] pizza
  • [make] paella
  • smoke /w Spider Grills Venom

I've been deciding between a Weber MasterTouch Kettle and a MasterBuilt Gravity smoker; I'd love them both, but I just don't have the space. Since the Spider Grills Venom reviews are so good I think I've settled on the Weber.

I've seen many recommendations for buying the 26" new and the 22" used cheap, but I just don't have the space - I can only get one which is why I'm so happy to learn about the SGV.

Everyone says there are few accessories for the 26, but I don't need everything - just what I mentioned above. That being said ,the Kettle Pizza fits with adapters I think; there's one rotisserie manufacturer that makes one that fits (but they aren't anymore?), I guess I can use any griddle that'll fit. Lol - I'm figuring this out myself apparently .

I am concerned about needing significantly more charcoal because most of the time I will be feeding 3 people; occasionally 12+.

Weber Gurus - thoughts?

Happy 250th

Well after celebrating the 4th with some incredible Blue Cheese Burgers decided to keep the celebration going with Rotisserie Chicken and Roasted Potatoes and Carrots. Trying out the Kinders Big Bold Chicken Rub that I picked up at Costco. Usually do the Holy Gospel. More photos to follow

Just walked out of that Ace hardware feeling like Danny Ocean

Hadn't seen the orange bags there in a while. Bought five bags online and then five more when I went to pick them up. Hope you guys have the same luck that I did. Sale ends today!

Zeeuws Spek (marinated and grilled pork belly) on the Smokey Joe

First time making this stuff myself. Worked out pretty well, but next time i should make the marinade a little thicker, and maybe a little less heat so the ends don't burn as much.

First time vortex wings (and hot dogs)…never going back

Ordered myself a vortex for my Weber recently and finally got to try it out for some wings, and I’ve got to say the hype is real. I used some Kingsford mesquite (skeet) briquettes, marinated the wings with olive oil and some Dinosaur BBQ Big Action rub, and put them on the grill. Halfway through the cook I brushed on some BBQ sauce on some (4 wings from 10 to 12 o’clock) and some sweet bourbon glaze on some others (6 wings from 4 to 7 o’clock) for a little extra variety. My God they were some of the best things I’ve ever cooked. I’d like to hear some of your favorite marinades/rubs/sauces/techniques because this might just be a new weekly thing for me and I want to try more.

So, yeah I got the last one they had. Seems solid as my old one. Here's hoping it lasts as long as the original.

99 bucks is a really good deal I think.

First time Grill on the Ranch Grill

I got this Weber Ranch grill like a year ago for $100. I have a few other grills and didn't use it until today. What an amazing Grill! This is by far the best Weber that I have ever used! It is simply the best. It is big but as you can see you can cook up a whole lot of food relatively quickly. I will definitely be using it more now that I see how well it cooks!

4th of July Ribs Full Process.

Happy 4th everybody!

I figured I'd document my process for ribs. I use a Slow N Sear on 95% of my cooks but it really isn't needed. You just need to set up a two zone cooking area and a water pan if you want to follow along.

Pictures should be captioned.

Tongs

Has anyone seen these Weber tongs. I purchased them over 10 years ago at Walmart discounted to .50 cents. They are by far better than anything else I’ve seen or used. I had 6 of them but have given some away over the years.
