Way too excited about this new jacket - pairing ideas?

Genuinely so excited for this outfit because I ordered this jacket from Banana Republic and had been looking forward to it ever since I saw it online. I knew it was arriving yesterday, so I wore the shirt and trousers into the office with the plan of throwing the jacket on once I got home and taking the photos. Thankfully, it lived up to what I had in mind. The sheen, the lightweight feel, and the linen-canvas texture make it feel like a perfect spring piece, especially for slightly cooler spring and summer days or evenings.

What I like most is how well it works with the shirt. The red and green stripes against the white base stand out beautifully under the olive jacket, and there’s a nice texture contrast between the subtle sheen of the linen-canvas outer layer and the more matte cotton shirt underneath. The brown trousers are mostly there to ground the palette and keep the whole outfit rooted in that chocolate/earth-tone lane. It’s probably the weakest part of the outfit since I just filled in the blanks, but overall I’m really happy with how this turned out.

I’m just as excited to build more outfits around the jacket as a centerpiece. Would love thoughts on other ways to style this! Never had a field/utility jacket like this before and Im trying to improve my layering so would LOVE some potential ideas - bonus for anything Velasca/Sprezzatura in nature.

*TLDR*: Finally got this Banana Republic olive linen-canvas field jacket and I’m really happy with how it turned out. Love the sheen, texture, and lightweight feel, especially over this red/green striped shirt. Looking for styling ideas, especially anything Velasca / sprezzatura-inspired.

Long Weekend Stripes and Pleats 🇨🇦

Long weekend in Canada! Lunch date outfit so I went with a fit that to me is all about the contrasts. I love the bold blue stripes against the rich chocolate brown trousers. The billowy/looser drape of the shirt against slimmer/more structured bottoms. The light texture of linen against merino cool wool. The open collar sets the relaxed tone. Everything about the individual pieces is intentional. It takes a simple formula of a shirt and trousers but makes it more elevated. I love the simplicity of this but Im also left wondering if Im missing a nice outer layer/accessory.

Top: Spier & Mckay Linen Shirt
Pants: Mango Cool Wool Chocolate Pleated Pants
Belt: Banana Republic
