Episode 4 is fucking with my heart

My last post on this sub was me loving ep1. But this man, not even halfway through and it's just wonderful. After liking episode 3 but not getting the extreme love it has I admit i was kind of scared for ep 4 as a lot of people dunked on the pacing.

Turns out this character focused episode is what was right up my alley. all these ruminations on maria and ange and how magic works for them is the form of cope I was suspecting since ep 1 but actually seeing it in action for them gives me both such happiness and sadness. The whole talk on making your happiness and "without love (finally revealing the implicit truth) it cannot be seen" bottling up to be released in the moments of despair of rosa and ange. Man, some of this was painful asf to read but so damn beautiful.

There's only one tiny thing I'm confused on: how did maria talk about ange "betraying" her in chapter 9 at that moment? Because that's the scene before rokkenjima when rosa comes back home and not 12 years later; so it was a masterful chapter but I was confused about that part.

The pacing issues are there, sure, but it's still crazy to me how someone could call the ange and maria scenes boring is baffling. My problem with question arcs so far is how I lose interest/engagement sometimes especially due to the repetition and dialogue, but if there's one motive that I'm still reading this story is ryukishi's pure ability to catch you off guard with either hype, joy or sorrow.

My thoughts on silver case so far

I just finished report 3, and while i thought case 3 was good it just wasn't this "amazing" that everybody was talking about, lots of people saying it's the best chapter of the game. I understand it, and am intrigued to see where they take Sumio's character, but I'm wondering when things truly start to take a turn.

I adore the game's style and the soundtrack is great. But I also feel like the pacing sometimes is way too slow, and even though i love the characters, some dialogues just feel too long winded for me.

I thought the start of placebo was mind numbingly boring, but after report 2 I'm starting to vibe with Tokio's characterization a lot and even though the monotonous gameplay of it is tedious, i admit it really does enhance him.

I sort of like it so far, but would you say case 4 is where the game starts to shine?

How the hell do people say ep 1 is good?

...because it's fucking awesome!

I have no idea what I've gotten myself into since everybody says it's the weakest and the start is slow.

I'm on Ch15, and while this second half of the episode has been perfect, I also have to give a shoutout to the capital A Amazing buildup that went into this. I don't think I've seen a japanese media that handles family topics and conversations this good. It sounds little but even in the very first chapters I was very much enjoying my time with the excellent characterization right off the bat.

As for the pacing, I'm genuine when I say it's perfect. I've read the first chapter for the manga and I said yep, this shit is not for me. While I thought the airport was good seeing how they completely skip over it and introduce characters in a very fast way didn't sit right with me. Anybody else felt this way?

the way umi has with details is honestly very similar to one of my favorite novels of all time, the italian book The Name of the Rose. It is also a murder mystery but set in a 1300s monastery and it is also very detailed slow burn with lots of back and forth about the meaning of truth. Give this book a try please and lmk 👀

I finished Fata Morgana as my first vn and the with the insane hype around it, I just did not get it, and honestly disliked it. But this? I don't know what it is but the cast of characters and their arguments were so endearing to me it clicked in the very first minutes. Genuinely do not know what to expect in the following episodes
