Launching an app before registering as self-employed/company — how did you handle it?
Hi everyone,
I’m preparing to launch a mobile app and I’m trying to understand how other solo app developers handled the business/legal side before generating any revenue.
For those who launched an app as a solo founder/developer:
Did you register as self-employed / open a business before launching, or did you launch first and register only once the app started generating revenue?
I’m asking because there are upfront costs before even knowing if the app will work commercially — business permit, registered address, notary/admin fees, accounting, etc. How did you manage those costs before having revenue?
Also, what happens if I launch the app first and it unexpectedly starts generating revenue before I officially establish the business? Can this create problems later when registering as self-employed or setting up the company?
One more question: how did you handle Terms & Conditions, Privacy Policy, app rules, GDPR/compliance, etc.? Did you use a lawyer, online templates, AI, or a mix of these?
I’d really appreciate insights from anyone who has already gone through this process, especially solo app developers or small founders in Europe/Luxembourg.
Thanks!
