Hi,
we’re four guys, and we’ve put together Westminster’s restaurant scene in an app called Vota. The concept is simple: you see two places side by side (for example Famille vs. Kachina Southwestern Grill), you choose the place you’d rather go to, and the ranking updates instantly. The more people vote, the more accurate the list gets over time. There are still a few duplicates here and there, but I’m continuously cleaning up the data.

P.S. I’m not from Westminster (I live in Gothenburg). I’m not collecting data, not selling anything, and the app does not use AI-generated content. I’m posting in a few different subreddits because we now support more regions, and I genuinely want honest feedback from people who actually know the area.

Vel'oh in Luxembourg rant

I apologize for the rant but it feels like the situation with Vel'oh is really getting out of hand in Luxembourg. I can barely remember the last time I had a fully functioning bike. The bikes are often broken, the battery can drop from full charge to empty within a few minutes and almost every time the electric assist fails, leaving you to drag an unnaturally heavy and stiff bike until you reach the next station. It feels like maintaining them has become a losing battle, assuming they're still trying at all.

I don't know whether the situation is any better outside the city. I understand that it's a cheap and heavily subsidized service, but the quality is almost insulting. For a casual cyclist like me, who uses the service at most a couple of times a week, investing in an electric bike is not really worthwhile.

Honestly, I would rather pay for a premium Lime subscription, or any other equivalent service and receive a high-quality service than continue dealing with this mess. It's mind-boggling that much larger cities, with far more bikes, manage to operate these systems reliably, while in Luxembourg we struggle to find a single good bike.

Findel Airport Rant

As wealthy as a country as we are what is it going to take to get improved scanners at Findel so, like at most major EU airports, you don’t need to unload all your electronics and liquids? Or even reach a point like FCO in Rome where larger quantity of liquids can be taken through security 🤷‍♂️

I work for an international company that has a few offices around the world but a fully remote policy. I just moved back to Luxembourg and, rather than sit at home sad & lonely, am looking for some kind of work environment. Does that exist? Where do other remote workers in Luxembourg work from?
