Trains between Lux and Ettelbruck?

On the mobilite app it says there are trains between lux city and ettelbruck with just two stops in between. However at gare centrale I didn’t see any such train with destination ettelbruck on the schedule. So I took a train with destination diekirch and more stops in between. Wondering what’s up with this and if I’ll be able to catch a train back from ettelbruck or if I should take a train from diekirch (coming back from Vianden). Thanks!!

Parking a Motorcycle in City

Is it true you don’t need a vignette on your motorcycle if you park it within Luxembourg City? I saw several bikes (even with foreign plates) without one and they seem to never get a fine

Company car lease vs private lease in Luxembourg- which option makes more financial sense?

I’m trying to decide between a company car lease through my employer or leasing/ renting privately in Luxembourg.
For those who have done the comparison which option ended up being cheaper and more practical? Any regrets or things I should watch out for?

Fans von 80s / New Wave / Synth-Pop hier? (Depeche Mode, The Cure, Madonna, Mylène Farmer)

Hallo zusammen!

How do you charge an EV without a RFID badge?

I'm visiting from Germany and didn't get an RFID badge before I arrived. I can't find any charging stations that just take credit card or can be activated through an app. Any advice?

How to bring my stuff with me to another country ?

I’m based in Luxembourg and, I’m going to start a new job in Prague.

I’m looking for solutions to bring my suitcases with me.

It’s not a lot of stuff, but still too much to carry with me by myself.

All my stuff fits in 4/5 suitcases.

Train is not going to be possible, flying will also be almost impossible.

I’m thinking to drive there, but what are the options if I rent a car ?

I’m running out of ideas. Thanks for your suggestions.

Hi,
we’re four guys, and we’ve put together Westminster’s restaurant scene in an app called Vota. The concept is simple: you see two places side by side (for example Famille vs. Kachina Southwestern Grill), you choose the place you’d rather go to, and the ranking updates instantly. The more people vote, the more accurate the list gets over time. There are still a few duplicates here and there, but I’m continuously cleaning up the data.

Here’s the iPhone version, with categories that actually fit Westminster’s food scene:
https://apps.apple.com/app/vota-restaurant-ratings/id6744969212

And here’s the Android version (finally live):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vota.app

P.S. I’m not from Westminster (I live in Gothenburg). I’m not collecting data, not selling anything, and the app does not use AI-generated content. I’m posting in a few different subreddits because we now support more regions, and I genuinely want honest feedback from people who actually know the area.

How did you find your job?

I wanted to start this thread to help people who are looking for a job in Luxembourg, because I was in their shoes just last year.

I thought it would be great if everyone who found a job in Luxembourg within the last 2–3 years could share their experience. I think it could become a really valuable resource for current job seekers.

I’ll start. I was laid off last year and found a new job after 5 months. I came across the position on LinkedIn, then applied through the company’s website. I didn’t have any referrals or prior networking with the company. Looking back, I think I was invited to interview because my background matched the role very well. For context, I’m a computer scientist, and I speak only English.

If you’ve recently landed a job in Luxembourg, would you mind sharing:

Domain/Industry:
How long did your job search take?
How did you find the position? (LinkedIn, company website, referral, networking event, recruiter, etc.)
Why do you think you were selected? (Relevant experience, niche expertise, referrals, certifications, etc.)
Any advice you’d give to someone currently looking for a job in Luxembourg?

Hopefully this thread can help others understand what worked in today’s job market.

is big 4 valuation analyst worth it

Hi guys, recently received an offer at one of the big 4 firms for valuation analyst. What is the career trajectory for this kind of role, is it interesting job or more like simple number crunching, and how much does a typical valuation manager make at asset managers (trying to look ahead before I sing up). I am really interested in corporate finance and would like to work in investments but this seems to be non existent in Lux. Wondering if valuation could open the doors of investment firms for me one day if I move to a different country

How competitive is the Master’s in Audit and Accounting at the Uni Luxembourg? (ACCA background)

Hi everyone,

I’m an international student planning to apply for the Master’s in Audit and Accounting at the Uni of Luxembourg.
I have a B.Com degree and I’m currently pursuing ACCA, with only the Strategic Professional papers remaining.
I was hoping to hear from current students or alumni about a few things:
How competitive is admission to this programme?
Does being close to completing ACCA strengthen an application?
What kind of profile do successful applicants usually have?
How are the internship and job opportunities after graduation, especially with the Big Four or other accounting firms in Luxembourg?

Lost childhood friend

Hi, I lost my childhood friend when I moved to another country, I still have his address, but I’m not sure if he still lives there. Is there a public record to check who currently lives there?
