My son has been sent a consent and indemnity form to sign

I really need some advice please on what to expect.

End of 2023 my son’s car was stolen from a public car park by a drunk woman who then immediately wrote off a car she crashed into. She left the scene in the car and was quickly stopped and arrested.

Unfortunately my son had left his car keys in the driver’s door pocket! His car was hardly damaged, just a buckled tyre.

We don’t know what came of the court case but today my son has been sent a consent and indemnity form to sign from his old insurance company.

I presume he won’t be covered as he left his keys in his car! What does this mean for him, does he have to cover the loss of the other car from his own pocket? He can’t afford it if he does.

Life can be a bitch sometimes, please share any insights you have and please be gentle! 😬🤪
