Solo Meghalaya Trip (12–18 June) – Looking for Trek, Cave & Waterfall Recommendations + Offbeat Advice
Hey everyone,
I’m planning a solo trip to Meghalaya from 12th June to 18th June and looking for some advice from people who’ve explored the region deeply.
I’m mostly into:
Treks & hikes
Waterfalls
Caves
Offbeat experiences
Small villages / nature stays
Current rough plan:
2 nights in Shillong
Remaining days around Sohra (Cherrapunji)
Some places/activities already on my list:
Double Decker Root Bridge trek
Bamboo bridge trek
Caving around Sohra
Hidden waterfalls & less touristy trails
Would love suggestions on:
Best offbeat treks or waterfalls around Sohra
Whether staying in Nongriat for a night is worth it
Any underrated caves besides the popular ones
Good homestays/hostels for solo travelers
How difficult the bamboo bridge trek is during June rains
Places to avoid during monsoon due to landslides/slippery trails
Whether I should add places like Dawki, Shnongpdeng, Mawlynnong, etc., or focus mainly on Sohra
I’m comfortable with long walks/treks and okay with basic stays if the experience is worth it.
Would appreciate any itinerary suggestions, local tips, transport advice, or hidden gems. Thanks!
