Are there any crops that really make life easier early game or should i just go through whatever the questbook tells me? I was thinking going directly for ore crops but anything else? (speaking of which, does the questbook contain all crops?)

So i started a new run on the daily build (my previous which was my first ended around early-mid MV). throughout all of it i used solar boilers for power, no matter what, and it kind of got boring so i wanna try something else this time. whats another power source i could use? I know theres creosote and oil, but anything else?
