What finance app has been worth the cost? Are financial advisors worth it?

What feature or capability has made a personal finance app feel genuinely worth paying for each month? Because I have a hard time making the commitment to apps like Monarch Money or Rocket Money. And I am not sure paying a human advisor would fare any better.

A lot of apps seem interchangeable now, so I’m curious if anyone has found enough value from a finance app that was worth the cost. I’m especially skeptical of paying for several services that are supposed to help me save money, when ironically, I’m now spending the same amount of money on those services; this feels like paying a financial advisor tbh.

Is there anything forward-looking that helps you decide on what to do with your extra money that is either free or worth paying for?

I am NOT seeking financial advice, and I’m not trying to sell anything! I just want to know what people are using now that tech is getting better and better.

What Finance App Feature Would Make You Actually Pay?

What feature or capability would make a personal finance app feel genuinely worth paying for monthly?

A lot of apps seem interchangeable now, so I’m curious what would actually create enough value for someone to switch and stick with it.

I think I get frustrated at merely the backwards looking nature of most finance apps and the dearth of forward looking finance apps that could actually help me plan for the future. So I’m curious about what people would actually find value in if it existed. Thoughts?

What part of your finances are you still using spreadsheets for?

What financial task(s) still forces you to use a spreadsheet even though you might be paying for a finance app?

I’m noticing there are still a bunch of workflows that current apps on the market don’t seem to handle very well, especially for people trying to actively manage and optimize their finances.

Like for me, I still use amortization schedules in a spreadsheet for each loan I have because I haven’t found an all that integrated that kind of planning well enough to pay for. Am I just ignorant of some comprehensive app that does everything finance related?

Curious what people here still track manually and why existing apps haven’t solved it well enough. I’m actually going crazy with the fact that I still report to spreadsheets for what feels like the market should have solved by now.
