Ps3. What am i looking at here?

What are the markings with the marker? Was this refurbished or what? The seal looked perfect and i don't think any average person would be able to reattach it that well, and shops just won't bother.

Also, whats with the stuff that leaked all over the place? What is that? Don't see anything that could've potentially leaked on the board, so something from the outside?

Its CHECHB00, Japanese console.

Ps2 30000 which direction to go?

So i have a ps2 that produces no video. Just a black screen.

I ruled out incorrect video output settings by removing cmos battery (which was original and showed correct voltages and all, so seems still fine).

The system while it doesn't seem to give any video signal (hard to tell, TV doesn't tell whether there is a signal or not on analogue inputs) still has fan spinning at max blast at all times, doesn't change if i leave it running.

It also seems to read discs, and differentiate between blue and silver discs (i base that on the disc drive making distinctly different sounds while reading either of them).

Console is definitely not modified in any way and i was the first person to open it. Theres basically 0 dust inside and judging by how clean it was inside and how clean the case is, it's probably barely used.

So, with all that in mind then - which direction should i go trying to diagnose whats wrong with it?

If i were to just blindly guess, i would guess dead capacitors though.

Any tips on how to proceed next?

Would this multimeter suffice to tinker with ps3 or a ps2?

So, i got a CHECHB00 ps3 with ylod. And a 30000 ps2 with black screen. I also have some mild interest in trying to repair them however, i never repaired a console before and as far as i understand i would need a multimeter for that kind of work.

So, i know that with ps3 ylod its complicated and all that, so multimeter is mainly for ruling out psu.

However, i also have a ps2 that only shows black screen and no audio (i tried many times switching between the output modes, so i have to assume theres something wrong with either the display output port or gpu)

I know nothing about using multimeters, but I'm curious enough to try and learn how to use and these consoles are practically sacrificial lambs anyway.

So do you think this meter would suffice for these tasks, or something newer would be better? Bought this one really cheap and seems to work fine.
