Cannot launch from standstill in Dirt Rally 2.0 (all modes except H-pattern + Clutch)
Problem
In Dirt Rally 2.0 only the car cannot launch from a standstill in any transmission mode except Manual H-pattern with Clutch. This includes Automatic, Manual Sequential, and Manual Sequential with Clutch. The setup works correctly in all other games.
Symptoms:
- Engine revs correctly when throttle is applied
- Steering registers correctly
- Gear indicator shows 1st gear in sequential mode
- Car only jiggles very slightly when throttle is pressed — it does not move forward
- Crucially: if the car is already in motion (e.g. rolling downhill, or launched in H-pattern+Clutch and then switched mid-drive), all transmission modes work completely fine
- The moment the car comes to a full stop, the problem returns and no inputs will get it moving again
What I Have Already Tried
*nput Reporting (DR2.0 built-in monitor):
- All axes read 0% at rest — no stuck inputs whatsoever
- Throttle, Brake, Clutch, and Handbrake all respond correctly when pressed
- Nothing is permanently engaged
Control bindings:
- Shift Up/Down correctly mapped in sequential mode, gear indicator confirms 1st gear
- Throttle dead zone set to zero
- Tried with clutch mapped and unmapped
Hardware:
- Tried the sequential shifter connected directly to PC via USB and daisy-chained through the wheelbase — same result both ways
- Disconnected all other peripherals — same result
- Tested across multiple cars — issue is consistent on all of them
In-game settings:
- Clutch Override toggled both ON and OFF — no difference either way
- No auto-clutch setting found in assists
Config file:
- Deleted `hardware_settings_config.xml` and let the game fully regenerate it — issue persists
What Does Work
- Manual H-pattern with Clutch works perfectly — car launches, all inputs behave correctly
- Once the car is already rolling in any mode, switching to automatic or sequential works fine
- The failure is **exclusively at the point of launching from a complete standstill** in any non-H-pattern mode
Working Theory
It seems like DR2.0's automatic launch/clutch engagement logic from a standstill is broken for this specific Moza configuration. H-pattern+Clutch works because the player manually controls the clutch engagement, completely bypassing the game's internal launch management. Every other transmission mode hands that responsibility to the game, and that's where it fails.
Has anyone else experienced this with a Moza setup? Any fix would be greatly appreciated.
