I’d like to know what yall think of this song.

J Dilla - Jay Dee 43 (Instrumental)

I’ve been listening to Dilla for a few years and he’s become my favorite artist by far. He was really popular in underground hip hop back in the 90s and 00s but now he’s not as well known. The reason I want to know what you think of this song, even if you don’t know Dilla or don’t listen to hip hop, is because a lot of people describe his beats as hypnotic. In my opinion, this is one of his more hypnotic beats. I’d like to know what it sounds like to someone with fresh ears for the song and for Dilla’s sound in general.

The only opening I know really well is the kings Indian, both attacking and defending. It took me from 900 to about 1700. Im starting to stall out a bit and feel like learning another opening or two in depth. Something that could round out the aspects of my game where I’m lacking. I’d like to study an opening that is either 1) similar to the King’s that could expand my perspective on it a bit, 2) one that is the total opposite of the kings that would force me to play with a different style, and/or 3) very good as a counter to the King’s so I can get a better handle on its inherent weaknesses.
