Ok so weird one.
Why had my sense of smell gone completely sideways?
I noticed straight after the surgery when I got back to my bed that it was off. Like I can smell at an extreme level now or something.
One issue was one of my one to one nurses in recovery unfortunately had really bad breath, I mean it happens so no hate to her at all, but without even opening my eyes I knew which nurse was next to me, it was like it was ramped up.
I also took a squishmallow bunny (I use him as a pillow) and I sprayed two sprays of my favourite perfume on him to remind me of home and holy crap I could not have him near me and he had to be washed as soon as I got home.
Some of the nurses (male and female) would come over and I hated the fragrances they wore (even though I recognised a couple and know I previously loved the scent)
I collect perfume and I’m now scared I’m gonna have to throw it all away because it’s just too much and even not having sprayed any I can still smell them in my bedroom.
What the hell is happening???
Oh please, please tell me this goes away soon.
Op was Tuesday, when does the gas go away?
Kept waking up last night due to it.
I think I could cope better with the incision pain, stomach muscle pain if it wasn’t for the damn gas pain!!
I’m walking, well like a little old lady, around the house, toilet and back, kitchen and back. Wriggling my legs in bed, all in the hope it goes soon.
Thanks
Well not gonna lie, I absolutely hated you lot on Tuesday!!
I didn’t do well at all. Surgery went really well. Surgeon said I have some huge blood vessels that caused issues but all was well
Unfortunately I didn’t come out very well. The gas pain was no joke. The pain meds would make everything ok for a short time but then make me violently sick.
So I spent 3 hours in recovery, and then back to the ward.
The next day wasn’t too bad, pain from the gas still utterly sucked. I did throw up once due to one of the meds the second was a large amount of bile.
I was allowed home yesterday evening which shocked all the nurses as they said from how poorly I was they were expecting me to be in several days!!
So today is going ok. Managed a milky coffee and trying to get my water in.
Found out I can’t lie flat as that makes me sick. And the gas pain still sucks!!
Finally on the other side and feeling better about things and know that this is for the best.
Thanks everyone for the well wishes and prayers. They were most appreciated.
Morning everyone.
Well it’s 5:30am here and just getting my things together as I’ve got to be at the hospital at 7:30am.
I’m scared but not as scared as I thought I’d be. Slept pretty well.
I got myself all upset yesterday and convinced myself I was gonna die! So I wrote letters to my husband and kids, but I actually think that helped get the fear out of that makes sense!!
I think I’m ready, looking forward to later on today and it’s done.
Anyone else having their ops today?
Can you lovely lot give me an honest time frame of recovery after the surgery?
I’m just trying to plan everything and wondering how long I’ll be out of action. (Surgery on the 12th May)
Been buying books, puzzles etc to keep myself busy and not sure if I have enough activities.
Also when were you all back driving?
I’ve been told 4-6 weeks as got to be able to withstand an emergency stop, but I’m sure I’ve seen people say they were back driving after a week and absolutely fine.
I know everyone is different but just a rough idea would be good.
Thanks
Look at this awesome card my sister sent me for my birthday!! I love it.
