What motivated you to create your community? Was there a financial benefit involved?

I wonder why many people find it interesting to create and grow their own communities. I want to do the same, but the effort required to develop one without immediate benefits makes me hesitant. What drives your motivation?

I was planning to stay home today, but then I looked at my pictures and it brought this to mind.

I’m a homebody who enjoys staying in but remembers winter days as feeling never-ending.

I have decided to go out today! Wish me luck! 🤣☀️

Tax brackets - is it time to update its tiers?

Folks, I am a 39M currently working in Toronto with a $165K salary. The thing is, taxes in Canada are very high, and with so many expenses, it’s hard to save for the future. I understand that 20 years or even 10 years ago, making over $150K was considered a big income and that “the rich” needed to pay higher taxes. However, that money doesn’t have the same value these days, so I think the government should update the tax brackets to reflect the current reality. A $150K income from 20 years ago is now more like $500K(idk - maybe less but you get may point), so brackets should be adjusted so people can pay their bills and save. Have you heard of any discussions or proposals about this? Has anyone in power even mentioned updating the brackets to match today’s situation? Or is it just me thinking this because I’m a cheap bastard? lol

Edii: August 10th. ****Wow! Just checked back on my Reddit and see all these comments!

First, sorry if those earning the average wage got upset or insulted; that wasn't my goal. I was just sharing my thoughts with the Reddit community. My thought: while $150K was “a lot” of money 20 years ago, it doesn't have the same buying power now yet taxes are the same. Tbh, I didn't read all the comments, but I saw many people focused on the fact that I make more than the average. - no my point but noted, sorry if you are struggling.

2nd., I do okay, but I don’t feel rich at all. far from it. Some have said I have a savings problem, but I never said I don't have savings, I have but it’s not $10Mm - It just feels that $150K isn't what it used to be decades ago, even though, taxes are the same, or aren't they - am I missing something? To those earning the average, I get it. I am an immigrant with two degrees, and seven years ago, when I arrived, I worked as a waiter for minimum wage too. I mean, I could write a book about my life, a very sad and dramatic book. BELIEVE ME😂, and I’m pretty sure it would EVEN make a great Netflix show too 😂.

Be strong and keep going, no matter what. that’s what I tell myself everyday.

OP
