Never underestimate what proper humidity will do to your cigars.
When I started collecting, I did so with a smaller tupperdor and bought a couple of Boveda 69% packs. Some of the ones I'd kept for a year and smoked later were extremely harsh and hard to keep lit. The hygrometer said that they were at 69% and I rolled with it until I finally got suspicious and got another one. Apparently, they had been aging for over a year at 72-73%
Got myself a box of 62% packs now and the humidity stays within the 64-66% range. Waited two months for the humidity to go back down. Smoked the first one today, AJ Fernandez New World Connecticut. Night and day. Burn is smooth, the nutty notes are evident, the smoke sits just right on the palate. Reminded me of the first smokes I had and why I got into the hobby in the first place. Keep an eye on your humidity, fellas!
