A message from a black adoptee to future white parents

hey people!

I am writing this as an Black adoptee to people who wants to adopt a Black kid.
I am not sending you this out of rage or accusation. Im sharing it because I wished my mom would have known this before she adopted me. I want to share this and share it with love.

I was born in Haiti and my first 3 years I was in a childrens home. When I was three my mom adopted me and I grew up in Berlin. I had a “perfect” childhood - I wasn’t really lacking of anything. I had food, cool friends, a lovely mom, hobbies, good grades, vacations…but something was missing. I missed black people in my life. I didn’t realized it back then, but looking back, I see so many signs that showed me my desire for a black family. A black mom.

I was raised in a completely white environment with barely any dark-skinned Black person.

My mom thought of everything - except she didn’t see my skin color as important, or as a part of my identity and my need for belonging. Thats something still that hurts today.
I wished I had Black friends, anything which could help me to connect now better with my people. More Black movies, shopping in AfroShops, Seeing our hair as beautiful and not “too complicated”, Films, books, toys..

If you truly love your Black child as a white parent, please don’t only except that the black kid has to adapt into the white western world. Don’t overlook the skincolor when it comes to identity and belonging. Your Kid is Black and needs a connection to their ancestors and culture in everyday life. Your child needs Black people around them to look up to - Doctors, friends, artists. To give your Black kid access to Blackness you have to reflect your whiteness.

Integration is good and I am not saying that I am not grateful for my western socialization.

But the feeling of being a Haitian adoptee who barely speeks french is terrible. To be an adoptee who doesn’t know the history of its own country is terrible. To be black and barely know the black history is shameful. There are so many things that I was missing and need to reclaim now in my early 20s.
I don’t think white parents cannot teach their child “Blackness” entirely - but you are responsible to give connection and access to it.

I wish Id gone to a French kindergarten so I could speak fluently french now and connect to Haitians. I wish Id grown up in a more black/migrant district. I wished we were cooking more afro Caribbean dishes together or were practicing more non white cultural things together. I wish my mom would have helped me to find a black therapist in my teenage years. I wish my mom had heard about the term of decolonization.

I feel like its not your job to repeat Black peoples stuff - but its your job to decolonize yourself and find the right environment for your kid. To not see your view as the superior. To maybe start therapy or supervision for critically thinking that can guide you through your blind spots in these topics.
Decolonizing isn’t a project you finish, its an ongoing lifelong process of learning, listening and re grouping

Thats only the perspective from me and how I am struggling on ethnicity realm. It won’t apply to everyone - but I share it from my heart so you can maybe consider it into your child’s transcultural and intercultural education.

If you have questions, please ask!

Who are our ancestors?

hey guys,

this question may sounds silly but I am unsure because I have unfortunately no connection to my Haitian roots, history or culture practices. I was adopted and I try now to re claim through research, experience and cultural expression.

Who are our ancestors : is it the Taíno people or do you feel more connected to African ancestors?

I am just wondering because Haitian people originally come from Africa but the Taíno people are historically the indigenous inhabitants from Hispaniolas who were displaced and exterminated by the colonizers.

Do you see my point? Nevermind, thanks for reading

see yall

How to communicate with Animals?

hey guys,

I really want to learn how to communicate telepathically to animals.

regarding to my connection with animals/dogs :

Since I am very young I feel a deep connection and love towards animals.
I genuinely think that I do love dogs on a deeper level than most people. I feel like I want to know this being and don’t want just a cute companionship, I want to experience its life and to talk with it.

I sometimes feel like if you (the dog) have to walk “barefoot” I also walk barefoot, If you have to sit on the ground I also sit on the ground with you.

Since I am a kid I always wanted a dog and its still a really big wish or better to say a deep knowing of that I will be with a dog one day but I don’t chase I attract the soul and moment.
Spiritual people told me they feel an animal presence with me and that something is missing and that I am not “complete” and that they see me with a dog.

I have this feeling with quite every animal but I feel like I don’t have this compound with every animal like with dogs because its not so common to be a companion in life as like with a pet. But I got the feeling of I want to be connected with any animals on a telepathic level.

How to communicate telepathically to animals?

In my shared flat a person moved in with a dog and I just feel like thats my chance to give it really a try. I know this person rarely because it was just a few days ago but I already feel that my heart is full of love and Affection. The dog likes me and I like the dog.

I really don’t know where I do have to start all I know is that it is possible and I read things online.

Can someone for real help me or would consider themselves as a coach or advanced practitioner?

Thank yall for any advice or just reading! :)

Does anyone else sees with closed eyes before falling asleep?

hey guys,

I noticed every time when I went to bed and just laying with closed eyes and even my bonnet over my eyes because I don’t have curtains in my room that I could see my room and I feel like my vision is getting stronger?

I am not quite sure if that’s really the case but I am having this experience every single night and I am already expecting it every night.
I sometimes try to practice to see my hands but It didn’t happen and I feel like it just comes when I am not trying and really being relaxed.

Does someone also has this kind of experience and found something out about practicing more without your really eyesight?

good night 🌙
bye and thank you for reading yall

I got cured through a dream?

Hey guys,

I wanted to share with you a experience. Sorry my English is not so perfect and maybe very simple written but I try my best.

To my illness:

I had a cold coming. I had headache and my nose was running. I had throat aches and I was very low energy.

On the first day of illness it was just throat pain, then the headache came one day later with the sniffles and sneezing started and my nose was blocked and I was very sick for 2 days. I was thinking , okay well now I am really sick and tomorrow there will be coughing coming. It was all very shitty because I was on a work trip with people who are themselves disabled.

One of the disabled people I was going on a trip with, was sick too and really hard coughing. I think I might’ve infected myself from her.

The second day when I had cold I had a dream :

I was laying in my bed and I think I am not quite sure, who it was but it was non human..it gave me a juice which just “washed” my cold and slime in my throat away.
I tell you guys, Next day I woke up…and I was just cured. minimal slime which I barely noticed over the day and I felt fit and didn’t had to sneeze or use something for my nose. I had energy and was back in my energy.

While I was getting the juice in my dream from the non human, I thought oh now I get the same cough syrup (which you pick up from the pharmacy xD) from the disabled person in my work but ofc it was not the same one because I just got the whole bottle of a magic juice.

Guys, did someone also experienced something like that or has a theory? I am very spiritual and just took it as accepted and amazed but I never really think its crazy what I experienced I think actually its possible.
