Feature Requests

Again...good job Adviice team for offering such a valuable product to Canadians. Here are a few feature requests for you to consider:

  • An "Acknowledge" button to 'clear' the warnings & opportunities after we have reviewed them and decided they are not relevant to us
  • Please please please, an "Expand All" method for the Projection chart or a few "Expand All" methods for each section (ie: Income, Expenses, Investments, Debt, etc).
  • A "Jump to" method to 'jump' to the sections in the bullet point above to ease the massive scrolling that is necessary within the projection chart
  • Comment column at the very end of each year within Projection chart in addition to the current comment area
  • A "Graphs" section under Planning or Progress that would show in a nice visual, graphical way the current snapshot and progress of your plan. I find this would be very valuable to many since it is much easier to understand the plan in a visual and colourful way than looking at so many numbers while scrolling. The summary section is nice, but you could back that up with a whole section with visuals

Thanks again guys for the great service you provide.

Anomaly when increasing the return rate

I have a friend that I referred to Adviice. He is a member now and is in the process of setting up his plan. I looked over the plan to date and there is an interesting anomaly. We had the return rate set to the default of 6.56% and he showed a 65% success rate. Just for interest, we increased that return rate substantially using the advanced options tab in the Projection chart to 12% for stocks (all his investments are in equity dividend funds) and the success rate dropped to 43%. Could you explain this anomaly? It also shows a very outrageously high "% Plan Funded" amount. Here is a anonymous 24Hr copy:

https://public.adviice.com/dashboard/24h-JVmlxtTOdHcG

Just some background...he is currently invested in high-yield dividend funds that have paid higher than 10% dividend (some 15%) for several years now. These investment products are invested in TFSA, RSP & Non-reg accounts. He realizes this may not be his strategy for the long term but for now, he is sticking with this plan as it is providing him with a significant monthly dividend income without much erosion of initial capital. How would one best reflect this method? For now, he has only changed the equity return rate using advanced options.

On another note, he plans on maintaining the maximum TFSA contributions into retirement, is it best to indicate the $7K/year in the Discovery/Expenses area under TFSA contributions or should he leave that blank and instead let the platform decide by using the AI strategies section to maximize TFSA contributions each year?

Lastly, it would be great if you had any other comments on his plan regarding any improvements or errors you may notice. For example, there is a high "Eligible Dividends" amount showing in Primary Taxable Income that I am not sure about.

Thank you very much for your time and expertise.

Questrade CAD to USD exchange rate

I am wanting to sell a large amount of NVDA.TO stock in my Questrade TFSA in order to purchase NVDA in the US version. I am very familiar with Norbert's Gambit for this, however I am talking about almost $400K in stock. the "gambit" would be a very risky way to go considering the wait time out of the stock. Usually takes 3 days minimum, usually 4 biz days. It's a total gamble. If NVDA stock goes up during those days, I could lose big time…the loss could be larger than the amount of the exchange fee Questrade charges. But if it goes down in those 4 days, I could win. Or I could play it safe and just pay the exchange fee by selling and then buying the US version at the same time.

I have heard if you call the trading desk and execute the trade through them, you may be able to negotiate a lower fee. Has anyone had any experience with this and if so, what negotiated rate did you get?
