How do you deal with maintaining a base in the long term?

I traveled full time for 3 years before deciding to settle down and rent a place in my home country. However, I've been struggling with maintaining any sort of stability with it and after spending a month or two at home I just end up with a nagging feeling to go on another trip.

I understand that's just sort of a part of the lifestyle, but at this point I'm not even sure if I really enjoy it or if it's just novelty-seeking for the sake of it. It also makes maintaining any sort of relationship or regularity at home impossible on top of making rent feel like wasted money on what feels like a long term Airbnb rather than a home.

This is sort of just venting but does anyone have any advice on how to keep myself from randomly taking off for another 3 months or at least pushing that feeling down enough to travel on a schedule?

Declaring items with unknown value

Does anyone have any experience with declaring items that you aren't sure how much they're worth?

I'm in the process of moving back to Canada and have a good amount of items i'l be bringing with me (all checked bags on a flight), most of them are random household goods and clothes that aren't worth very much, but I do have a few used electronics that almost certainly put me over the 800$ limit.

The issue is I acquired them years ago, don't remember exactly how much I paid nor do I have receipts and as they are used the value is definitely not the same as when they were acquired. What should I tell CBSA in that case? Is it acceptable to just bring the bags to them and say I'm not sure, or will they expect an actual dollar amount? I've never had to declare anything so I'm not really sure on the process.

Thank you!

Non-resident credit

Hello,

I’m looking into building some Canadian credit and was wondering if anyone has any experience with this or recommendations for cards, preferably rewards cards but I realize that’s unlikely in this situation.

I’m a non-resident citizen, with a job and financial base in the US, no Canadian address and little US credit to rely on for anything cross-border. Il be in Canada soon so I can apply in person, my SIN and everything is already sorted.

Are there any specific banks that I should look into applying for a credit card that would be likely to approve someone in my situation?

Pulquerias

Hola,
