AITA: friend keeps going BEEEEEP during our singalongs and it's possing us all off
Alright, so we're a group of five buds. The star of this story is Wake, who is 20, male, and white. (Him being white is important.) The important co-stars are Dale (20M, black), me (19M, Indian), Steve (19M, white), and Larry (19M, black).
So we sometimes do group singalongs on the way to our hangouts and shit. One song Dale put on recently is this old classic called "Gold Digger" by Ye. It's funny as shit so he started putting it on for singalongs.
The annoying thing is... Wake. So Gold Digger has the n-word in it. And whenever the n-word comes up in the song, Wake goes "BEEEEEEP" like we're on a TV show and he got censored with the bleep. The first time, we all kinda laughed and Dale said "come on, man" and started the song over. Like half a minute later we're there again and Wake goes "BEEEEEEEEP".
This is getting unfunny fast. Dale turns the song off and says "dude, can you stop with the beeps?" Wake gets offended fast and goes "dude, what do you want me to say?" "Just say the word, nobody gives a shit." "Dude, I'm white, I'm NOT saying that word." "Steve said it!" "Steve shouldn't be saying that word either."
Now Steve gets mad. "It's just a word in a song!" Dale says "it's fine, you have the pass, you three have the pass." Wake says "the pass is bullshit!" I pipe in here and say that it's not like we're trying to be offensive. I add "come on, Wake, you know yourself and you know Steve and you know me. Do you think you're using the word to be racist? Especially since Dale and Larry said it's fine." Wake said "Larry never said it was fine, but even if he did, I just don't like using the word."
Larry's been kinda quiet, and Dale says "dude, say something!" Larry says "I don't really care if he says it but I'm grateful that he cares enough to not". Dale gets steamed as shit by this and calls him pussy. Larry calls him some nasty shit back, and Dale parks the car on the side of the road. I try to change directions. "Alright, alright, don't say the word, just stop with the beeps. Are we cool?"
Wake kind of gets annoyed here. "Well, what should I say?" I say he can just say nothing. He protests. "It's a singalong, I should be allowed to say something!" "You're allowed to say something, you just don't want to say it." "Yeah, sorry I don't want to say the fucking n-word! How about we just do a different song?"
Steve says "we're not changing a good song just because you're a wokeass pussy". Wake gets mad here and says "step outside, I'll show you who's a pussy". Larry says "guys, pussy is kind of a stupid insult for dudes to use" and me and Dale both turn to him and say "whatever pussy" and "shut up, pussy". We kinda just ended it there but everyone's mad.
Who is the asshole? Wake? Or me and Dale?
