Question for vocalists: is there a term to describe a vocalist's timbre?

It may just be timbre, but I'm talking about how some vocalists have different and distinct "voices", almost like a characterization.

For example, David Bowie has his smooth tenor, but also his raspy nasal Ziggy Stardust. Or Rob Zombie with the low growl and higher-pitched nasal bark.

Is there a formal name this sort of thing?

Astro is my best little friend

I *finally*, after 10 years of trying, got a pic of him showing off his dignified side.
