I recently bought this used LP session studio and noticed there are a lot of these dark colored splotches on the finger board. I tried cleaning it with lemon oil but it made no difference.
I wanted to ask if anyone had any insights on what this is and how to clean it up?
I've purchased a Les Paul Studio Session from Guitar Center, but I had to order it online and have it shipped to the store near my house. The guitar is listed as "excellent condition" which effectively means "like new."
However, from the photo I can see that the volume and tone knobs have been replaced and the bridge pickup cover has been removed. The paranoid part of me is concerned someone could have taken out the Gibson ’57 Classic pickups and put something else in.
QUESTION: When it arrives, is it reasonable for me to ask the repair folks at Guitar Center near my house to open up the guitar and verify the pickups are original? Has anyone ever done this before?
