Best stage 3 options?

Following up on my previous post,

I was going to go with the APR DTR. I do have a buddy who would hook me up with his 20k mile vortex XL for $600 but I’m unsure what all I’ll need to run it. I still want a reliable setup to daily drive. Should I stick with the DTR or another OEM+ turbo or are there better options for 2k and under.

Edit: Is there a difference between the HPA IS38+ and the regular IS38 to consider it an upgrade?

Stage 2 or Stage 3?

Hey guys I’m looking at the options and trying to get some total cost numbers without labor. So I have a 2015 Golf R that’s stock (power wise) other than intake/turbo muffler delete. For me to do a downpipe, intercooler, and ECU/TCU tune that would be $2000-$2500 before install. I live in an emissions county though I could pass with a tune and catted downpipe. Part of me is thinking just buy the APR DTR and go stage 3 with the stock exhaust and upgrade my intercooler. It might be $800 more but I’m replacing a known defect in the 2015 IS38. My IS38 has turbo surge already till about 4000 rpm’s/WOT. Let me know what you guys think. I think the DTR ECU I will still need a TCU tune. Just hit 70k miles btw. Thanks

Hey Guys what is your reaction to letting other people drive your car and they drive aggressively? I let my girlfriends dad drive my golf R after he kept going on and on about how awesome they where and how he loves them. He launched it twice or 3 times, floored it a couple times and had some fun in if after I offered to let him drive it. (Yes ik I offered it) would this be something that upsets you, ik it’s not a lambo lol it’s a Golf and it’s supposed to be driven.
