X31/X32 ThinkPad keyboard matrix/pinout help needed Hi everyone,

Hi everyone,

I have a keyboard from a ThinkPad X31/X32, and I’m trying to convert it into a USB keyboard using a microcontroller.

To do that, I need to figure out the keyboard matrix and the pinout of the connector. I tried doing this with a multimeter by pressing a key and checking continuity between all the connector pins.

However, I’m getting some strange results. For most keys, I don’t get any continuity/beep at all. The Enter key does beep, but most of the other keys don’t seem to show anything.

Does anyone know the pinout of the keyboard connector or the matrix layout for the X31/X32 keyboard? Or have any idea why I’m not getting continuity on most keys?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Identifying a 40-pin connector on a ThinkPad X3x keyboard

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to identify the connector used on a ThinkPad X3x series keyboard (X31/X32 and similar models). It has 40 pins.

Does anyone know the exact type/series of this connector, and where I could buy the matching connector?

I need to connect the individual pins to a microcontroller so I can convert the keyboard to USB.

Thanks!
