Season 19 Theory
Hey everyone. This is my first post. I'm loving this Season so far. I have so many theories after the latest episode. So do not read this unless you have watched the latest episode.
Here's one of my theories. This will probably not happen... but this is what I imagined after watching the latest episode. I do think the photo is Voit's family. Possibly them coming and going at home or whatever. What the Fan conveys here is that he is a God, he has the power to either kill them or let them live, their lives are in his hands. He completely played Voit by making Voit believe he had control over the suitation when in reality he didn't. Honestly I loved seeing Voit on the back foot for once it's great to see a unsub who can go toe to toe with him. It instantly made the Fan very interesting and he could possibly become a very good villain if done right.
Question is what would Voit do? The best option would be is that he immediately tells the BAU which honestly he should have done in the first place. I can see what Voit was trying to do. Bond with the guy, get something out of him, get the Fan to incriminate himself so they would have something on him but clearly Voit underestimated him. Evidence or no evidence Voit should have told the BAU anyway and they could have kept tabs on the guy until he possibly slipped up. Voit's ego was his downfall here. Here's what I think, his ego will end up being a problem again. I can't see him telling the BAU because one he doesn't trust them and two he will think he can handle this himself, he has to be the one to stop the Fan. So I bet he will escape. Episode 2 they spoke a lot about Voit's inner desire to escape and I feel that was all foreshadowing. If the photo is his family, that will be the trigger, the cause that will finally make him give into those instincts he has and break out.
The BAU are probably gonna think the worse like oh great Voit is back to being Voit. Unaware at first why he did what he did until they eventually start digging.
Meanwhile Voit is hunting The Fan but I actually would like to see Voit's actions having consequences here. Imagine if Voit escaping and going after the Fan is exactly what the Fan expected. Voit ended up playing right into his hands. One thing we know about Voit is that his weakness is his family. Cyrus once said: "Family's what gets you killed. But you'll find that out soon enough. That little family of yours... yeah... they'll find out too."
Rossi knew this too. It's what led to Voit being caught. So what if the same thing happens again? His belief that he could save his family and stop the Fan ends up backfiring on him massively. This is the consequence I thought of: we have seen that the Fan is quite bold already. He was bold going into the prison, bold in targeting Voit's family (if it is them) he could be bold and kidnap Voit's family but let's take it a step further. The Fan kills Sydney. Voit falls for whatever trap The Fan set and as a result he loses Sydney. His ego, trying to handle it on his own costs him big time. He loses one of the people he cares about the most. A cruel twist. This season has mainly been about family. The victims' families, JJ's family etc. Of course Sydney doesn't deserve this she is innocent but what about Voit's victims they didnt deserve it, they were innocent. He took people, loved ones away from their families so it feels I don't wanna say karma but having a loved one being taken away from him feels...I can't describe it but I think it would leave an impact. It's not that we would feel sorry for him as such but we would be feeling for his daughters. They lost their Dad already and now they lost their Mum as well. The Fan has officially destroyed their lives. It will all go back to Voit being "pathetic" and experience the feeling of being powerless.
Unfortunately the BAU arrived when it was too late. They did eventually figure it out why Voit escaped but they don't get there in time. The storyline could go two ways either Voit completely loses it I know he has empathy and all but he is furious whatever he tried to hold back, the restrain he had is gone I'm not saying he will be evil again it will be more complex than that. It will be revenge and Voit probably would feel guilt as well blaming himself for Sydney's death. The BAU have gotta go after both unsubs. The other option is Voit finally realises he can't do this alone, Sydney's death is a wake up call and he finally turns to the BAU for help especially if the Fan is not done yet and he's I don't know taken Holly or both daughters. Voit will know he can't make the same mistake again. Another thing about this season has been trust. Voit and the BAU don't trust each other but they could come to some sort of common ground, they develop a fragile alliance and work together to stop the Fan and save the girls. It would be character growth for Voit too putting trust in someone else for a change. Of course the trust needs to go both ways as well. Penelope's belief that Voit has changed and everything we saw last season can come into play here. This is the test. An opportunity to prove Penelope and Dr Ochoa are right. I would really like this option to happen because Voit and the BAU being on the same page would certainly speed things along. We saw Voit's potential in regards to his style of profiling in episode 3. His input and the BAU's combined no drama, no crap just getting straight into it could be the key in stopping the Fan for good.
Brian, I still think something will happen to him. He's been too involved this season and after all this has all started because of the podcast. Brian has given it up for good but what if the Fan targets him? Kidnaps him? Maybe the Fan will force Brian to do a podcast while in captivity. A live broadcast? A message to Voit? Or the Fan makes his own name and presence known to the world? gloating and smug about being the one who took down Sicarius, overthrown him as the ultimate serial killer. What a ego boost that would be and goes with the God Complex.
Voit's fate. I will be surprised if he survives this season. Zach hasn't been confirmed for Season 20 and I don't know this season, the way his screen time has been reduced it does really feel like its his final season. The writers and cast did speak about certain chapters closing at the end of the season and I think Voit will be one of those chapters. So fate options. Option 1: He does have the Fan in his grasp and is very close to killing him but his daughters or the BAU will stop him. His daughters, he hates that they know about this side of him now. It could be his daughters' reactions to what he is about to do that makes him pause. Or the BAU try to talk him out of it. Either way this causes Voit to hesitate and that hesitation is enough for the Fan to strike back. The Fan kills him but the Fan is soon stopped by the BAU. Option 2: He sacrifices himself to save his family or the BAU and stops the Fan in the process. A fitting end to his character and it would mess with the BAU a bit knowing he has done that and makes them question on him being a changed man. Option 3: If Voit did survive and that is a big if I guess he goes back to prison and we never see him again or he pops up time to time to consult on cases? He is useful. Option 4: He fakes his death and gets away after the Fan has been stopped and we don't hear from him again or it leads to Zach getting his dream Voit spin off lol.
As I said this probably won't happen because Sydney being killed feels like a repeat of Hotch, Foyet and Haley. I just thought given Zach and Kiele are divorced in real life this could be a way to handle Sydney's character while still involving the daughters in the show. I'm so intrigued about Holly given what happened the last time we saw her. If Sydney dies...will this finally push Holly over the edge? As for Sydney she could be killed off screen or Kiele comes back to do her own separate scenes. Then again maybe Sydney doesn't need to die she could be moved somewhere maybe her and Harlow and its Holly that gets taken. Voit's ego costs him in another way like as I said before the Fan predicts Voit will escape, Voit falls into his trap and gets captured. We could still have that podcast session as described above but including Voit in it too. The family is leverage there to keep him in check. The BAU have gotta save them and the various fate options could still happen. Ok I will stop now. I'm rambling 😂😂😂 but I'm just really drawn to the Sydney idea. 👀
