Hospital won’t release COE unless I complete 2-year contract
Hi everyone, I just want to ask for advice or if anyone has experienced the same situation. Kasi I’m currently working in a private hospital and I signed a 2-year contract. However, I’m planning to resign already after 7 months due to burnout and the work environment has become really toxic for me.
I understand na may penalties involved, and I am willing to pay whatever is stated in the contract (like penalties, uniforms, etc.). I will also complete the proper 30-day rendering period before I resign.
My concern is my Certificate of Employment (COE). Sabi nila sa HR, I can only get my COE after rendering the full 2-year contract. If I resigned immediately, wala silang ibibigay na COE.
I just want to ask if may naka-experience na ng ganitong setup where COE is withheld until matapos yung 2 years. Is this actually enforceable? Were you still able to get your COE after resigning?
Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!
