Steering wheel shaking when braking and vibration of accelerating past 50mph+
2018 mazda6, I noticed the steering wheel shaking side to side when braking from higher speeds like going off a highway exit to a stop. Braking from slower speeds doesn’t shake the wheel at all and no scraping sounds. I took the front wheels off and inspected, regreased contact points for brake pads and checked the rotors for indents or obvious defects. I also checked the runout with a dial indicator, but first time i’ve done so so chance I did it wrong but the rotors and pads are only a year old.
While the braking shaking could be due to a warped rotor I’m wondering how this would effect acceleration and vibration in the steering wheel when accelerating and not braking. whether these are related issues I don’t know but I am suspecting a control arm or axle issue which I know less about. please give me some guidance
