got my (first) 2027 kinbor weeks order... my pros & cons review
Sharing my quick Kinbor 2027 Weeks pros & cons review below!
I got 3 (so far.. 😬 but the weeks format is my favorite planner). Random notes: The pine green is a soft cover (the only one this year I think) which is nice for light-weightness but it doesn't feel durable *at all*, like you could rip the cover off pretty easily. I much prefer the hard covers which are actually thicker and harder than the Hobo weeks in my experience. The 'whisper under the covers' cover has tiny particles of glitter in the material of the hard cover so it shimmers in the light.
PROS:
- THE PAPER: it's back to 52gsm (from the not fountain pen friendly 78gsm for 2026) and based on one quick test with a few fountain pens, tombows, mildiners & POSCAS, looks like really great paper again for those of us who use fountain pens and markers.
- THE SPREADS: same weeks style spread, most all the layouts are the same except the yearly overview now has 6 tall columns for each month on two pages instead of a blank notes section on the top of the 6 monthly columns.
- THE PRICE: the Kinbor Weeks is still so affordable compared to the alternative!
- (edited to add!) THE HARD COVERS: the hard covers are still really thick and great quality which I appreciate!
CONS:
- PRINT QUALITY: well, this is a bit of a bummer personally, compared to the 2025 & 2026 Kinbor weeks, the print quality (how dark the lines are and the sharpness of printing) is a bit lower. It's a bit harder to read the print, the gray printing of the borders and the grid is lighter, and the printing is slightly more pixelated. It's not extreme nor awful but it's not as good as previous years. I'm guessing I'll just get used to it. Also, my pine weeks is the worst of the three though they are all pretty close and I can only tell because I have a graphic design background.
- BLANK PAGES: even though Kinbor went back to the thinner 52gsm paper, they didn't go back to the same number of blank pages in the back. 🙂↕️ In 2025 with 52gsm paper it was 80 numbered blank pages, in 2027, it's only 50 numbered blank pages, same as this year (2026) with the thicker paper. Another bummer for me personally because having more blank pages than a regular Hobo weeks was a huge plus for getting a Kinbor.
- THE COVER DESIGNS: this one's subjective but this year's designs are... a choice. 😆 They look like AI, or like someone used AI with some 'make some artsy designs that look like a child drew them' prompts. I agree with everyone that the undated planner designs they just released are much more aesthetic and nice, these dated covers are just not as aesthetic. I also wished they had more hard cover solid color options, and more nature inspired designs and not as many hand drawn designs with strange looking animals (some of which are frowning or sticking their tongue out?). They don't exactly spark joy or peace either except the 'whisper' quilt one which is probably my favorite one out of all the covers.
That said, I'm so thankful to have these with the 52gsm because the paper is the main reason I get these planners over the more expensive option. Hope this info helps in your planner choices for next year, have fun! ✨
p.s. will try to post photos when I have time...
