Starting October 1st with a second increase next year.

Next month I am planning to purchase a 2-zone Coaster monthly pass for my work commute from north county to Sorrento Valley. Had a few questions for those using the monthly pass:

What happens if I tap on but forget to tap off? With day fares it charges the full price but what happens with a pass?

If I take the occasional trip (1-2 a month) after work from Sorrento Valley to Downtown, would that be valid with my 2-zone pass even if I used it in the morning from north county to Sorrento Valley?

How much extra would I be charged if I do end up taking a full 3-zone trip with a 2-zone pass?

Are monthly pass holders even tapping their card or do they just get on the train?
