Poor dog was pacing around anxiously and stepping on some sort of box where one bump or sharp turn could’ve easily knocked him out of the truck. Felt horrible seeing this dog clearly scared. Do better people!!

What’s a great Mexican bar and/or restaurant to watch the match at in the Oside area tonight? I’m looking for great food, reasonably priced drinks, and a fun/rowdy atmosphere! My current plan is Johnny Manana’s, but the bar can be cramped sometimes and I’m not sure how great and authentic the food is.

Happy to report that the Legoland fireworks show last night was really enjoyable. We were at the same spot where we've watched it for years -- a little over a mile southwest of the park.
The main reason I'm posting this news is that last year Legoland tried something different, and judging from online comments after the show, folks were pretty disappointed. Legoland listened and returned to a more traditional show this year -- it was long enough and big enough that you really felt you had a fun, memorable experience.
Thank you Legoland! Our neighborhood looks forward to the event each year and we really appreciate the show you put on for North County.

SAN MARCOS — Palomar College will double the size of its free tuition program for the 2026-27 academic year, allowing up to 3,500 students to attend school at no cost, college officials announced recently.
The expansion of the Palomar Promise program from 1,700 students is the result of the college’s one-time $3.8 million investment of redevelopment agency funds received by the district. The program also receives annual state and local support.
In previous years, more students applied than available funding could support. College officials said the new investment will eliminate that gap.
The Palomar Promise provides up to two years of free tuition, assistance with purchasing textbooks, and access to specialized academic and career planning, along with related support services, for eligible first-time college students.
According to the college, students enrolled in the program are more likely to remain on track toward their educational goals. Nearly 84% of students in the fall 2025 cohort continued their coursework into the spring semester.
Palomar College launched the Palomar Promise program in 2017 with more than 800 participating students. By its second year, enrollment had grown to about 1,500 students.

Carlsbad village is significantly less crowded than previous years. The beach is crowded, but the village is at normal Saturday levels. We were able to find parking at 1pm no problem. Unheard of. The waits on state street were also normal Saturday levels. Tourism is definitely down. Also, there was way more maga / MURICA type folks than usual. So it seems the non-maga crowd is staying away? Foreigners are missing? It’s a lopsided mix.
Obviously this means no treasonous maga scum
Hi! I am 40f and single. All of my friends have families and are doing fireworks with their kids tonight. I dont really care about seeing the fireworks, but thought maybe I would just go have dinner by myself and sit at the bar somewhere. I dont really drink much but I would have a cocktail if I am taking up space at a bar. Anyway, what are some nicer restaurants in North County that I could have dinner at that might be open tonight with good food and vibes. Bonus if there’s some type of view but if not that’s fine too. Wouldn’t be disappointed if there might be single men there either 😅 Just not looking for places full of holiday debauchery and guys in their 20s. Appreciate any recs!

I’ve lived here in north county for roughly 28 years and I still find myself bored asf every weekend you would think living by the coast id have a lot to do but ever since my two childhood friends had kids things changed I’ve tried dating to distract myself but love just ain’t for us folks on the spectrum cause I can say for me love is extremely scary to me cause all I’ve seen is failed marriages now I’m just a kid cudi
If you are seeing this it’s probably because you interacted with my last post(s). It’s been a while so I just wanted to give an update.
At the recommendation of many we tried Himalayan Sherpa Cuisine in Carlsbad and I think my search for the best might be over. The palak paneer (my comparison dish) is extraordinary. The tikka masala (lamb, chicken) and other dishes are excellent. Naan is a 7/10 but the flavor of the dishes is so good it’s hard to go anywhere else.
Anyway, this is my 4th time ordering from here in the last 6 weeks and every time is better than the last. I will try other places and take notes but for now, this is the winner of the ~ 7 places I tried between San Marcos and Encinitas.

So any recommendations either need to lobby hard or have compared their recommendation against this place.
I still need to go to the place where the last user said the naan was great. On my list. Can’t remember right now.

My partner and I are looking to make more friends with similar interests as us. We are both males in early to mid 30’s 28 and enjoy a pretty wide variety of activities.
