I did this hunt about as legit as I possibly could. Bought a Japanese copy of Emerald a couple of years ago for my collection of imported games/consoles. Then, about a year or so ago, a local game shop owner helped me out, because they were somehow able to distribute the Sea Map over their internet. They even let me use a snazzy wireless adaptor while I was there to download the mystery event card. I then did a full playthrough, which was easier than I thought it would be considering the language barrier, so that I could unlock the island and travel there on the boat etc. Then started the hunt.

I was at about 60 hrs of playtime when I started. When I did my last save after catching it, I was clocked in at 271 hrs. I've taken a few breaks here and there, because it was being ornery and not shining lol. I had heard that Emeralds RNG is wonky somehow, and that I have to run away and re-enter everytime to hunt it properly. So, I assume the wonky RNG played a part in how long it took. But, just glad it's finally over. Glad to finally have my little blue bubble buddy! Never Forget: All It Takes Is One.

I just traded a couple of games for a copy of Platinum with a buddy of mine yesterday. Did a few resets last night and picked back up this morning. I wasn't counting, considering the amount of time between resets. But, this couldn't have been more than 30ish SR's. I fully expected this to be a long hunt. I wasnt even looking at the screen for this one. Just heard the sparkle and lost it. I love Piplup so much. Absolutely hyped! Also, apologies for the photo quality. Really hard to distinguish the shiny from a photo imo. Really looking forward to this playthrough, as Platinum is one of my all time favorites. Never Forget: All It Takes Is One.

I've hunted this guy off and on throughout my playthrough for a long time now. Did it mainly because my wife is a huge fan of frogs, and Ive always wanted a Shiny Politoed. Never Forget: All It Takes Is One.

This is my first shiny since being able to fix my HG save that was corrupted. It was a bit challenging, as Im playing on actual hardware. But, was able to get it done thanks to the help of folks on another subreddit. So excited! Arbok was a member of my first ever team as a kid, when playing through Red for the first time. So definitely a nostalgic addition. Glad to add him to the team!

It honestly felt like it took more time to get enough coins for 5 checks per reset than it did to actually do the hunt lol. Never Forget: All It Takes Is One.
