International travel from India

Hi everyone, just curious — is anyone else reconsidering or cancelling their summer international travel plans from India given the current war-like situation and the PM’s recent appeal?

We’re also thinking of cancelling our trip, so wanted to understand how others are approaching this situation.

Input on Masters in Data Analytics

Hi everyone, posting on behalf of my brother.

My brother (24M) is currently working as a Data Analyst at American Express India, where he’s been working for the last ~2 years after getting placed there through college placements.

Academically, he comes from a Civil Engineering background with a minor in Computer Science. Over time, he developed a strong interest in the data science/analytics space — especially data analytics, machine learning, A/B testing, statistics and data-driven decision making — but isn’t particularly inclined toward hardcore DSA/software engineering roles.

He’s now considering pursuing an online Master’s in Data Analytics/Data Science alongside his job. His primary goal is to strengthen his profile and eventually move into better-paying, high-growth opportunities in the data science field. Budget isn’t a major constraint as long as the ROI and career outcomes justify it.

Currently, he’s leaning toward Georgia Tech, but is quite confused between OMSA and OMSCS based on his career goals and background. He’s also heard about some Stanford online programs, but isn’t too sure how well they’re regarded compared to the others.

So far, he’s mainly been looking into:

  • Georgia Tech OMSA / OMSCS
  • UC Berkeley
  • UT Austin
  • Possibly Stanford online programs

Would love to hear recommendations from people in the industry:

  • Which programs would you suggest?
  • Are these degrees actually valued by recruiters/hiring managers?
  • Would you recommend a more analytics-focused degree vs a CS-heavy one for his goals?
  • Any advice on how he should approach this overall?

Thanks in advance!

Flight rescheduled without consent

Hi, I was planning a family trip to Switzerland with my husband and my in-laws. We are a group of four adults — two couples.
We had booked all our flights back in January to get the best fares. Our original itinerary was planned from 15th June to 22nd June, with flights from New Delhi to Zurich and back. Based on these dates, we finalized all our hotel bookings, planned our complete itinerary, and even obtained our Schengen visas.
However, yesterday we suddenly received a notification that our flights had been rescheduled to 14th June for departure and 19th June for return. This completely disrupts our travel plans, hotel bookings, and itinerary.
We checked and saw that flights are still available on our original travel dates, yet Air India revised our bookings without offering us any alternative options. At this point, it feels like we may have no choice but to cancel the trip altogether.
Booking a new set of flights on our own at this stage would also be extremely expensive, especially since fares are now much higher than when we originally booked in January.
We are truly heartbroken because we had been planning and looking forward to this vacation for a very long time. We understand that the current situation may be due to the war-induced fuel crisis, but we are feeling extremely helpless and unsure about what to do next.

Please suggest what options we may have in this situation.

TL;DR: Air India suddenly changed our Switzerland trip dates from 15–22 June to 14–19 June, disrupting our entire itinerary, hotel bookings, and visas. Rebooking flights ourselves now would be extremely expensive, and we’re unsure what to do.
