We built a VTM chronicle manager and need Storytellers to test it out

Hi everyone! We’re the team behind GhoulApp the free V5 and V20 character creator, and today we’re excited to share something we’ve been working on for almost a year: the Chronicle section.

When we first started planning this we actually thought about launching it as a completely separate website with its own domain. But the longer we worked on it the more we realized it just belonged inside GhoulApp. Your sheets, dice rolls, and the campaign itself all make more sense in one place, and splitting them up would just mean players bouncing back and forth between two tools. So instead we built it right into the app as a dedicated home for Storytellers to actually run their chronicles.

Since your players' characters are already connected to GhoulApp everything stays synced up with zero double bookkeeping. It gives you a proper story view to structure your campaign into chapters, a planning board and interactive maps with custom backgrounds and territory layers. You can also lay out the political landscape with sect hierarchy tools, manage an NPC roster with an interconnected relationship system and use a shared dice section. On top of that, we included a chronicle wiki, a session calendar, XP requests, boon tracking and the ability for Storytellers to edit sheets directly for newer players who need a hand. (For more details check out the blog post)

Like the rest of GhoulApp the Chronicle section is completely free and made according to the Dark Pack guidelines. It is still very much a living project, so feedback from Storytellers running real games is incredibly valuable to us right now. There will definitely be some rough edges and bugs, so please let us know what works and what is missing so we can keep improving it.

You can check it out right now at ghoulapp.com/chronicle. We also share all of our development updates on Patreon, so thank you all so much for the support!

We created a comprehensive Chronicle manager for V5/V20

Hi everyone. We're the team behind GhoulApp, the free V5 and V20 character creator and manager. Today we wanted to share something we've been building for almost a year now: the Chronicle section.

When we first started planning Chronicle section about a year ago, we actually considered launching it as a completely separate site. Different name, different domain, the whole thing. But the longer we worked on it the more obvious it became that it belonged inside GhoulApp. Characters, sheets, dice rolls, the chronicle itself, it all just makes more sense living in one place. Splitting it off would have meant you players bouncing between two tools for what is really one shared story.

So instead of making it a different website we folded everything into GhoulApp under the Chronicle section. It's a dedicated home for Storytellers to actually run their chronicles, not just a layer on top of character sheets.

We won't go through every single feature here, but the short explanation is it's a space where Storytellers can plan and run a full campaign with their players' characters already connected to GhoulApp. You get a proper story view to write and structure your chronicle into chapters and sessions, a planning board for plot threads, maps with custom backgrounds and territory layers, a sect and coterie hierarchy tool to lay out the political landscape, and an NPC roster with a relationship system so you can actually see how everyone is interacting with together. On top of that there's a chronicle wiki for your players to read, a session calendar, XP requests and storyteller editable sheets for your new players who needs help with their sheets, boons, reveals for masked characters, and a shared dice section the table can roll in together. Everything stays connected to the characters your players already built in GhoulApp, so there's no double bookkeeping.

Like the rest of GhoulApp, it's completely free and made according to the Dark Pack rules. It's still very much evolving and we're adding to it constantly, so feedback from Storytellers actually running real chronicles is incredibly valuable to us. There will be bugs and rough edges. Please tell us about them so we can make the experience better for you.

You can check it out at ghoulapp.com/chronicle. If you're already running a chronicle or thinking about starting one, give it a try and let us know what works and what's missing.

Also we share our updates on Patreon. Thanks for all the support!
