Thailand in late June/early July — Krabi/Railay or Koh Samui?

Planning my first Thailand trip for about 2 weeks from late June to early July and I’m torn between the Krabi/Railay area vs Koh Samui.

My rough route is probably:
Bangkok
Chiang Mai
then either Krabi/Railay OR Koh Samui

I’m not a huge “sit at a resort all day” person. I like staying active, doing excursions, exploring, boat tours, viewpoints, etc. I definitely want some beach time though and I want those classic Thailand views.
Krabi/Railay looks way more dramatic/scenic to me, but I keep reading mixed things about weather that time of year.

I’m okay with occasional rain, but I’d be disappointed if it was several days of storms/constant clouds and boat tours getting cancelled.

For people who’ve been during late June/early July:

Was the weather actually a big issue in Krabi/Railay?

Did rain ruin activities or was it more just occasional showers?

Would you personally choose Samui instead for a first Thailand trip during that season?

Would love honest opinions/regrets/recommendations!

Thailand + Bali for 2 weeks — worth it or should I reconsider Bali?

Hey everyone, looking for some honest opinions/advice from people who have travelled Southeast Asia recently.

I have about 2–2.5 weeks off between jobs at the end of June and beginning of July. I was originally thinking of doing Thailand + Bali solo (late 20s female from Canada).

Thailand seems amazing, but I keep seeing mixed things online about Bali.. overcrowding, scams, bad traffic, safety concerns, etc. Some people absolutely love it and others say it’s overrated now.

I’m feeling like I’ll be more interested in beaches, nature, good food, culture, wellness vibes, maybe some adventure, and meeting people while still feeling relatively safe. A good time for self reflection!!

For those who’ve been recently:

Is Bali still worth it?

Would you pair it with Thailand or skip Bali entirely?

Any areas in Bali you’d specifically recommend or avoid?

Are there better alternatives for a 2-week-ish trip?

I’ve also briefly looked at:
Vietnam
Philippines
Malaysia
Singapore stopover

Would love realistic opinions, especially from solo travellers or women who’ve gone recently. Thanks!!
