1st Trip to Thailand. Does this look like too much?

Hello! I have been lurking here for a bit and decided to plan my own solo trip! Whole trip will be a little over 3 weeks. My main purpose for going around this time frame is to experience Loy Krathong up in the North. I would have loved to visit Koh Tao, but don't really want to risk during the rainy season.

I thought Khao Sok would be a great stop, but not sure if going there 1st with this schedule works best?

Would love to hear any input/suggestions!

Edit: Thank you for all the responses! Hearing from others it seems like I won't be missing much if I leave out Pattaya - Which leaves a lot of extra room for the other locations! I will probably do some more research and update my itinerary before I book anything. Other than that, it sounds like I did okay!

Hong Island, Krabi — Today (Rainy Season)

People often avoid Krabi during the rainy season, but this was Hong Island on a day without rain.

Any tips for planning a 3 month stay?

I spent 2 weeks in Chiang Mai and 2 days in BK a few years ago. It was fantastic, but certainly not enough to give me a truer sense of what longer term living would be like.

So this year, I'm looking to do a trial run of spending 3-4 months in SE Asia during the winter months in Canada.

So perhaps January to the end of April. I'll likely use Thailand as my home base and spend at least 2 months (or 3 with extension). I may spend some time in Vietnam and end with a month in Japan.

I plan to book one week at a hotel and explore on the ground for longer term accommodations while there. I know it's usually 1 year contracts, and 3 month stays are challenging to find.

I'm curious for those who may have done something similar, I'd love to hear any tips or suggestions. For instance, did booking a flight 6 months in advance save you money?

How much should a 4 person trip to Thailand cost?

Hi, I wanted some guidance of Thailand costs especially Phuket and Krabi. We are going to Phuket for 4 days and krabi for 4 days as a family of 4.

I did book the flights and the hotels but idk how much one spends daily for food, travel etc.

I was thinking of booking phi phi island tour, hong island tour and James Bond island tour. Please give me recs on where to book, which tours are the best, whether speedboat or long tail or if it’s private or not.

Thank you!!!

Who is familiar with Bangkok?

Hello good people of Bangkok ! I have a Bangkok trip on the cards with a couple of my buddies and I have been looking at accomodations within the huai kwang area.

One of the main reasons is to avoid the bribe hunting police checkpoints of lower sukhumvit.

Does anybody have any info to share about Huai kwang, just like general tips, reccomendations, warnings etc.?

Open to anything y'all might be able to contribute as I've not yet had the chance to personally visit the area before.

Poorly suspended A/C unit on hotel room balcony

This is in my fourth floor hotel room in Trat. 680 baht per night posted room rate. The ceiling crack looks like earthquake damage. The load-bearing bolts are very wobbly. Don't be caught sitting underneath such a unit when the next quake strikes.

90 days after a week out

I asked how many days I would get on my return after spending 60 days in Thailand but got mixed answer so hope this helps.

I was granted 90 days after spending one week in Japan and 60 days in Thailand before that, this probably doesn't help much people as there are not many tourists from Argentina and Chile but in case you were wondering

Personal injury law firms and lawyers?

Hi everyone, can someone please help recommend a reliable, highly rated law firm or lawyer in Thailand that handles major personal injury claims?

I recently suffered a horrific injury at a major hotel brand in Phuket due to what is clearly a severe structural design defect on the property. I was originally dealing with the hotel’s insurance company directly, but they were not playing fairly and the process has stalled completely. I tried to hand it over to a lawyer in my home country, but they have just informed me that because the accident happened in Phuket, they have no legal jurisdiction to fight it and that I 100% need to hire a Thai law firm to take over.

My injury happened 8 weeks ago, and I am still in severe daily pain and completely immobilized under bed rest, out of work, and been made reliant on heavy prescription painkillers. I have incredibly strong evidence, including full CCTV footage of the incident, photos of the hazard, GP letters, and complete MRI results.

Can anyone please suggest a reputable law firm (ideally fluent in English or an international firm) that you or someone you know has successfully used for an accident or injury in Thailand? Thank you so much in advance.

DTV "Sport Training" What exactly does it mean? Is a regular gym accepted?

DTV „Sporttraining“ – Was genau bedeutet das?

The 9-tiered waterfall that looks like it's straight out of a movie! 🌿💦

If you're planning a trip to Thailand and are looking for a natural destination not too far from Bangkok, I recommend Sarika Waterfall (Namtok Sarika) in Nakhon Nayok.

It's a majestic 9-tiered waterfall, and the best part is that each tier has a natural swimming pool. It's popular with locals but less so with Western mass tourism.

Practical travel information:

Location: About 15 km east of Nakhon Nayok city.

Getting there: Highway 3049 for 12 km, then left onto Highway 3050 for another 3 km. Very easy and accessible.

Services: There are accommodations, restaurants serving local cuisine, and souvenir shops (they sell special brooms and artificial flowers made from Scots pine).

Cultural/Historical Note: Near the waterfall is Sarika Cave. It's an important site because Luang Pu Man, one of the most revered Buddhist monks in Thai history, lived and meditated there between 1917 and 1920. Today, a small chapel is still active for meditation.

first time hotel recs?

Sometime this dec Id like to visit Thailand with a couple of my mates for 5/7 days. Is there any particular place in Bangkok that has good connectivity (e.g, BST or MRT), and preferably in an area with good shopping (both thrifting and malls), food, night life? I reckon my budget for accommodation would be 1.5k - 1.8k AUD. :)

WLW Honeymoon in Tropical Asia

WLW Honeymoon in Tropical Asia

Hi! My partner and I (WLW) are starting to plan our honeymoon and are pretty set on Thailand, but we’re overwhelmed by all the options.

We’re looking for something very relaxing and romantic — a luxury beach resort, beautiful water, pool, spa/massages, amazing food, etc.

Ideally, we would love something all-inclusive or as close to all-inclusive as possible (meals, drinks, activities, spa packages, etc.) so we don’t have to think about planning every little thing once we arrive. We’re totally open to paying more for the right honeymoon experience, but we also want good value and don’t necessarily need the $2,000+/night ultra-luxury resorts.

Would love recommendations for:

  • Honeymoon destinations/resorts in Thailand
  • Any true all-inclusive (or close) experiences
  • Other tropical destinations in Asia that you think would be a better fit

TYIA!

Booking trip in February 2027. Thinking of Koh Samui, but wondering if there are other hidden gems worth seeing?

I've already been to Bangkok, Krabi, and Chiang Mai. This year I wanted to go back to the beach / island and Koh Samui is a place I hear a lot about, but have never been. Wondering if its worth the trip, or if there is something else out there more worth my time? I plan to do at maybe 5 nights there.

is 3000 THB/day enough for me and my wife (accomodations paid for)

I am going to see my wife in Bangkok, accommodations are paid for already but she isn't working that month so I would have to cover food expenses for both of us. Maybe 2 nights max of actually going out and drinking, other than that we just go to cheap massages and eat street food/occasional restaurant. I'm bringing about 71000THB for 24 days.

Can I enter Thailand if my passport has less than 6 months of validity? I already have an e-Visa

Hello guys,

I just got my Thai e-Visa. However, in four days my passport will have less than six months of validity remaining.

My question is: Can I still enter Thailand with a valid e-Visa even though my passport has less than six months left before it expires? Has anyone been in a similar situation?

Thanks in advance!
