Warning If Visiting Koh Phangan

Since I wish I was warned before planning a trip there, I want to try and be this warning to others.

There is a specific nationality that has taken over this island, associated with committing a well documented crime proven by the International Court of Justice. Unfortunately I can't name them without this post getting removed, but I guess most everyone knows who I am talking about. They finish their service and go to the island to have their vacation and "heal".

Understandably, being around them can be triggering and feel unsafe to a lot of people. They are everywhere on the island and kinda hard to ignore. Therefore, before putting the effort and money to plan a trip there, be mindful of this.

I know for some this warning might seem silly, but this can be a serious trigger for a lot of people especially those directly affected by their actions.

Unfortunately, I wasn't aware until late, and I did leave earlier than intended because I didn't feel safe, especially after witnessing what they've been doing for the last three years. I spoke to locals and other foreigners who had lived on the island for a long time and learned that this nationality is opening a lot of businesses on the island that are often illegal and registered under Thai nominee names.

I understand you go to Koh Phangan for vacation, partying, seeking wellness and having fun, but I invite you to do that with awareness, making sure to give back to the locals instead of contributing to that nationality's expansion. For example, while I was there I made the effort to ensure the restaurant I was eating at is Thai owned, sometimes going as far as asking the staff directly about the owner.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post.

Whatsapp account got suspended after contacting Emily for Vietnam e-Visa

Hello, my partner and I are planning a trip to Vietnam soon, so we applied for the Vietnam e-visa. My partner got his approval 6 days later, while I fell into an unending cycle of automated emails stating that I should finish filling in my application, although it is fully filled in.

I was advised to contact "Emily" to help me get out of this cycle, and I saw that it had worked before for Reddit users, as well as a friend of mine. The moment I sent her a message on WhatsApp, a banner popped up stating that my WhatsApp account was suspended and that it would take 24 hours to finish reviewing the reason behind it. In the meantime, I had no access to my chats and couldn't see new messages.

I regained access to my WhatsApp today and saw that Emily had actually responded, but now I'm scared to send her more messages and proceed to use her services. Has this happened to anyone before?

Thai Embassy in Berlin

I applied for a Thai tourism e-visa from Berlin. The application has been under processing for 15 days now, during which they requested a lot of additional documents and some of the requests I already submitted.

I missed my flight and accommodation reservation and they are still requesting extra documentation and processing my visa application.

I was wondering if someone else had the same experience with the Berlin Thai embassy. And if so, did this endless extra documents requests end in acceptance or rejection?

[DE] Rudest Identity Verification Video Call. I don’t want to proceed with opening the account anymore.

I am in the process of opening a revolut account and i was doing the routine identity verification video call when I had to interact with the rudest employee ever.

She was condescending, impatient, rude and aggressive in her responses. I called her out on her attitude and she had the audacity to say that she has reported me and ended the video call.

This made me rethink my decision to open a revolut account because if this is how they deal with customers it will be a huge issue.
