Some conclusions from Bladeshu’s Uptie Story.
Upon several readings of her uptie story, it has amazed me just how much more abusive each of the Nursefathers are compared to our own timeline.
Callistolu would mutilate her for his art, using her as a new canvas. She would be brought within an inch of death, screaming in pain and agony, yet carved perfectly as to not kill her so that she could be recovered later.
Valendya cared even less for her. All she cared for was using Yoshihide as an outlet for her stress and trauma, only beating her instead of doing any training. She would hurl anything she could at her while shouting profusely in wrath.
Matthoutis would destroy anything that Bladeshu had that she disliked in the slightest, seeing them as toys to play with and, after getting as much enjoyment from them as possible, shatter into pieces. In the end, she would just leave Yoshihide alone in that big, empty room.
Riensang would tell constant tales of gore, sorrow, and tragedy. All stories that Yoshihide was read concluded in the worst of ways. She would try to read more stories, seeking relief from the sorrow, yet they all ended in similar tragedy.
And of course, this all culminates in them locking her within the Vault until she reached Temporal Entanglement.
The underlying theme amongst them appears, to me, to be how much more self-centered they are. That is, they each interact with her solely for their own enjoyment, and not to raise her in any sense of the word. All they did was solely for the sake of themselves, and they treated Yoshihide as nothing more than the Blade of the House of Spiders.
I also believe that this is additionally shown within her interactions with Ren. She doesn’t recognize him in the slightest, going as far as to say that they were never once entangled. I believe that this too is supposed to represent self/centered behavior. She was so entirely focused on the pain she went through and the abuses she received that she didn’t even bother to remember the face of her apprentice, the one she was meant to care for. I believe that this also why she targets Renclair last with her defensive skill; not because she wanted to spare him, but because she simply forgot he ever existed.
