Need advice for these old watches
Hey guys, need some guidance regarding two watches I recently received from my father.
One of them is a vintage pocket watch that originally belonged to my great-grandfather, probably from the early 1900s. The other is an old Titan moonphase watch that belonged to my grandfather, likely from the early 2000s. I’d really love to see them running again.
I’m planning to get them restored, but I want the restoration done properly — preferably by someone experienced with vintage watches who can service and repair them without replacing the entire movement or removing their vintage charm and originality.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t find anyone reliable in my city (Vizag) who works on vintage watches.
So I wanted to ask:
Is restoring them a good idea, or should I leave them as they are?
Do you know any trusted watchmakers/restorers in India who specialize in vintage watches?
