WP109 Help!?

Bought a bottle of Worthy Park 109 after overwhelming and raving reviews. I enjoy it neat a lot and it makes the best Dark n Stormy in my opinion, but I can't get it to work for my palette in other cocktails, everything turns out 'heavy', like it takes over the drink and not in a good way. I've tried it in numerous cocktails but to no avail. Anyone have any banging recipes with 109 that I can give a go?

Tiki Original - Jardin Créole

Workshopped this today, felt like making a cognac-ginger cocktail Simply because I didn't know of any, and ended up going full tiki. I kept incorporating more and more French style ingredients. It's tart, spicy, sweet and has a long evolution, I feel like this might be my best original creation yet!

1½ oz Courvoisier VS

1 oz Rhum J.M Blanc 50

1 oz lemon juice

½ oz ginger syrup

¼ oz cinnamon syrup

¼ oz orgeat

¼ oz Giffard Abricot de Roussillon

2 dashes Angostura

2 dashes Peychaud's

4 drops 20% saline

Shake with ice, strain over ice in a highball, garnish with pineapple fronds and a cherry, enjoy!

Mai Tai

I love trying a lot of different Mai Tai specs, this one was really good! I was gonna put Hampden HLCF in instead of Appleton 12 but I figured it was already over proof enough and it might need a little bit more barrel notes from a longer aged spirit since the agricole I used is unaged. Turned out very nicely balanced!

1 oz Appleton 12

1 oz Père Labat 59

3/4 oz Grand Marnier

Scant 3/4 oz Homemade Orgeat (recipe below)

Little over 3/4 oz of Fresh Lime Juice

3 drops of Saline

Put it in a tin with ice, shake it up, strain over new ice, garnish with a sprig of mint and a spent Lime.

Homemade Orgeat:

225 grams of high-quality Almond milk

340 grams of white sugar

25 ml Wray & Nephew Over proof

3 ml Saline solution

2 ml Orange Blossom

1.5 ml Almond Extract

Dutch High Ester Rum Driehoorn

Someone from my hometown Weert, The Netherlands just launched products from his distillery called Drie Hoorns. Starting off with a gin, a high Ester Rum and absinthe, apparently working on a 'kruidenbitter' (like Jägermeister) as well.

Had the chance to talk to him and he really put a lot of effort in, did an official course on rum distillation and actually went to Jamaica to take home a stinky muk pit (traditional in Jamaica rum distilling). The rum was rested on Bourbon Casks for 2 years and bottled at 49,5 %. They made around 120 bottles of 700 ml.

The result is really really good.

Viscous mouthfeel, pretty sweet but he assured me he didn't use any additives!

Fresh on the nose, almost minty, slightly chemical in a good way

Lots of deep caramel/molasses

Classic overripe fruit tones, pineapple and oranges, the bourbon cask shines through with wood and vanilla tones

There's definitely quite a lot of Jamaica funk shining through, I would say it's higher than Appleton or Hampden 8, but lower than those crazy releases like HLCF.

The only real negative would be the price, at 60 euros it's about the same price as Hampden 1753 here, which is on the pricey side, but I think it's worth it!

Score: 8/10

Leclerc is not stubborn enough to become WDC

Charles always listen to the le team even while disagreeing. Charles, if you don't agree with a call, don't listen. It's the umpteenth time that he's questioning Ferrari's judgement and then still blindly following the call. Just don't pit and gain the place on Hamilton. Hamilton, Max, even Lando would've probably not followed the call and gained a step on the podium. If he's ever to become WDC with another WDC next to him he needs to start directing his team, not just following.

Trelawny Negroni

It's a rather expensive Negroni but damn is it good, funky and hot, bitter but sweet, complex, might be my favorite Negroni ever.

1 oz Hampden Estate HLCF (120 proof)

1 oz Carpano Antica

1 oz Campari

Build in the glass

Stir 20 rotations with your finger.

Express Orange peel

HNGD: Eastman T486 Classic

I've been teaching guitar for almost 20 years now, but my most expensive electric has been a Mexican Fender Strat Deluxe Player since like 2006 or something. I play a lot of acoustic so I do have an Eastman E8D which I love to bits, and since I'm finally self sustaining through only musical means I thought it was time to get myself a high end electric. I fell in love with this guitar and I finally got to bring it home today! 😁

Went to Sicily on holiday and managed to grab some amari, one on top of a mountain lol, the other one I took because I fuckin' adore lemons, especially sicilian or amalfi ones! Any ideas/recipes for either of them? 😁
