Hello everyone,

I’m having some feelings of doubts whether I’m ever going to be able to afford a property. To give you some background I’m 28 and have only started saving money this year. I have £1300 saved across two accounts, it’s kind of embarrassing.

To shorten the sob story, I’ve had to work to provide for myself since 18, which meant that I had to work while doing my bachelor’s and master’s degrees. All the money went towards housing, food and some entertainment to keep me sane.

I currently earn £35,503 a year, which currently makes it £2267.03 a month after tax. I live in London and I am in a walkable distance from work, which means no commuting. Here is my monthly budget plan:

Rent - £800
Bills - £150
Pay monthly phone plan - £59.96 (4 months till paying it off and I’ll jump on the cheapest plan)
Spotify - £10.99
Food - £200

Savings:
6.5% Savings account - £200 (it has a £200 limit a month)
2.75% Savings account - £300

Pots:
PC parts - £100
Smart watch - £150 (my Fitbit is on its last leg!)
Treats - £50
Toiletries, clothes - £50 (won’t spend until accumulates to a higher amount)

Leftover money - £196.08 (I normally don’t do anything with this and it gets spent anyway)

Please please may I have some tips or pointers as to something I may be doing wrong?

And I am sorry if I appear dramatic or pompous, or seem like I’m portraying myself as a victim. I just wish I could start over again.
