Something I hope the show expands on is the immediate aftermath of the final battle.

First let me state I am a super casual Harry Potter fan. I’ve watched all the movies maybe about 2-3 times on average and not since years ago. Mainly the first 3 movies I saw probably dozens of times as a kid in the mid 2000’s watching ABC family.

I have never read the books. I’m aware the books got longer and longer and so the movies got more and more unfaithful as they left massive chunks out.

Watching the movies, I always assumed a piece of these omissions was the immediate aftermath of the big final battle and Voldemort’s death. It is so abrupt.

So I was very surprised a few days ago, I was in Books A Million contemplating buying the series in prep for the new show. And I picked up Deathly Hallows and flipped to the last 5 pages or so out of curiosity, and I was shocked to find out it plays out almost exactly like the movie. The whole big battle is still actively happening like 5 pages before the end of the book, with the whole get away from her you bitch scene. And then Voldemort dies. And the book literally ends like 2 pages later with the 2 page 19 years later epilogue.

Several really big characters have died and there’s basically no followup. Most importantly, Voldemort himself. The closest hypothetical analogy in my head, would be like an in-depth series about World War 2, and if it ended with Hitler killing himself literally 2 minutes before the credits roll. Missing all the incredibly complex aftermath and how the world carries on from there. The beginning of rebuilding and picking up the pieces and so on. I realize that’s a real life tragedy that killed tens of millions of people, and this is a fictional story, but that’s just an example.

My point being that even as a super casual fan, it felt super abrupt and I can only imagine how much more abrupt as someone who actually read the books and spent a decade of buildup getting there. I know people make fun of the many endings of LOTR, but it deserves that slow descending action. It would be like if Gollum falls into the volcano with the ring and credits roll 90 seconds later.

Long story short, I hope Voldemort doesn’t die in literally the final 4 minutes of a 7 season show. I hope there’s a good 20-30 minutes showing the aftermath of the battle and his and all the various other important deaths.

What are the odds on us ever getting another season of The Grabowskis?

They’re nearly 20 years old at this point. But it was over 25 years later when David Lynch made Twin Peaks: The Return. So there’s always a chance. That’s basically what I want to see, The Grabowskis: The Return.

Does anybody else pretty much just exclusively watch Wheel of the Worst episodes on repeat?

Pretty much daily, at lunch and dinner, I’ll get my meal ready and then pick out a random one, usually skip about 20 minutes in past the introduction banter, since I’ve seen them all so many times.

I’ve been doing this for about 2 years now since I discovered the channel. I always avoided it for years because of the name, Red Letter Media, sounded like some corporate schlock like Watch Mojo. I had no idea it was actually like one of the most genuine, non-corporate channels on YouTube. It’s kept me going these last 2 years.

Anyways the regular Best of the Worst episodes where they watch movies usually doesn’t do it for me. It has to be the weird short form video tapes. It’s always an insane treat for me every few months when they make a new Wheel video. I literally say out loud when I see it “Oh my God. Holy shit!” It’s like a kid on Christmas.

And like pretty much everybody here I think agrees, the addition of Josh Robert Thompson over the last year or so has been indescribable. It’s like when a show 10 seasons in introduces a new character and they almost always suck, but here it’s like he was born for this and was always there. Like genuinely, across all movies and TV, I’ve never seen such a late addition completely revitalize something so well. Like this last year or so of Wheel episodes are iconic the day they release. The whole Look at Me Bop Bop Bop thing was literally like a shot in the arm to the channel. And I mean that with nothing but love and sincerity. To be in the golden age of a piece of media this late in its existence is almost unheard of.

Hi, everybody. Name’s Huey. I am the helicopter blades Furio almost pushed Tony into. I remember that day filming back in 2002. It was my first gig playing a helicopter blade. I was a very proud blade that day. My dad played a set of helicopter blades in Apocalypse Now. Unfortunately the industry isn’t as good these days and I’ve had to resort to playing lawnmower blades. Anytime you see a lawnmower in a tv or movie, there’s a 50/50 chance that’s me underneath there cutting the grass.

Christopher asks him who? And Tony B responds “Some very sorry people, that’s who.”

So do we think he killed them, or just beat/tortured them, or was this whole thing just something that happened when he was a kid in elementary school or something? That would be kinda funny, if the whole thing was just a bunch of 10 year olds, and Tony B told the teacher and got them detention. Some very sorry people, that’s who.
