Dog Track (not the racing kind)

Hey folks, I have a dog that LOVES to run the length of my yard, she chases cars along the fence line as they pass. I have no problem with this however at the points shes stops she has made a huge path. I have tried to lay down wood chips along the path as it goes through my garden but her speed just sends them flying out. So I was thinking of possibly getting very fine gravel like they used to make running tracks out of, I believe its called cinder track. My question is is there any danger to my dogs paws? Just looking to make the surface a little more durable.

How to tell when a tent is done?

So I have an old EMS northstar 2 person backpacking tent that is easily 25 years old. I recently noticed the underside of the rain fly felt a bit sticky to the touch. I assume this is the water proof coating. On my last trip this weekend, when I took the rainfly off to pack up there were all sorts of tiny flakes on the screen of the tent that looked almost like ash (it wasnt ash) could this be the coating flaking off? I think its time to look for a new tent.
