Not even my card but my buddy hit this today from a Big 5 Mega Box for $50. Thought I would share with everyone 😮‍💨

Got 2 super boxes at Costco earlier, first box had this in the flagship packs. I’m impressed, and very happy. I know the next 10 I get will have nothing, but after this I’m good with it. Thought I’d share, go to Costco.

I have the 5/5 on the way back from PSA. If anyone has any tips or insight on the 4/5 (it’s been pulled and graded a PSA 8), I would appreciate it!

I was so happy to get my Shohei Ohtani card back from PSA. I pulled this card from a pack last year on my birthday and was ecstatic with the grade I got. My question is do you guys think Shohei will be the next collectible card like Mickey Mantle?

A local Vintage Stock has bundles of cards for two bucks, with around 80 cards in a bundle. They're mostly junk wax and sometimes not in great condition, but I'll pick a few up every once in a while and I've found some neat old stuff in there, including some (unofficial) autos from folks' collections. I usually try to get ones that look from the side like they're from a bunch of different sets mixed together -- a lot of times they're very obviously just a whole brick of '87 Topps or whatever.

Over the 4th of July weekend they were buy one get one free, so I loaded up. 2,727 cards for $34. Figured it was worth that much just to paw through all the cards and see what's there. A good chunk of them are in the sweet spot of when I collected as a kid, so those were fun to see again, and then I didn't pay attention to cards from like the late '90s until just recently, so all those designs were new to me as well.

I've only gone through the Topps so far (third photo). There are about 1,300 Topps, so about half the total number. The oldest were a couple cards from '78 and '79, with cards all the way through 2024. 1987 was the most common year, followed by '89, '86, '94 and 2000. There are about 100 Stadium Club and 50 Heritage.

From skimming the rest it's largely what you'd think, primarily Fleer, Score, Donruss. Might be a few interesting things in there yet -- I saw a 1988 Topps Reds Leaders blank back. I had no delusions I was going to find anything really worth anything, but for about the price of a blaster (if you can even find them), not a bad way to spend the long weekend.
