Sonic Chinelin was good and ahead of his time
A somewhat controversial opinion I have is that Sonic Chinelin was good and ahead of its time. Even though it used clichés like violence and gore, it was way ahead of its time. And before you think I'm some edgy guy who spends all his time praising Shadow and Sonic.exe, let me explain.
Currently, there are tons of videos that simulate bootleg games; these videos were created around 2020, and Sonic Chinelin was created in 2010. Why am I mentioning these kinds of weird videos? Because Sonic Chinelin is similar to them, although, well, those videos don't use blood or violence (I think). When I first saw Sonic Chinelin, I thought it was something created by VibingLeaf or similar channels that specialize in that format: uploading videos that simulate gameplay of digital bootleg games. That's why, in my opinion, Sonic Chinelin was way ahead of its time.
I also think it's crucial to mention that the creator, instead of uploading their creepypasta to the Creepypasta Wiki or any other forum, decided to create a fake gameplay video so you could experience what it was like to play this supposed game. I'd even go so far as to say that this "story" employed the "show, don't tell" approach, because the creator never explains anything and only shows the gameplay instead of explaining what's happening.
Furthermore, Sonic Chinelin doesn't explain anything and is confusing. This led to a ton of theories and people saying that Sonic Chinelin is a video about Sonic trapped in purgatory or something like that, when in reality, the video never implies that, and the purgatory thing is just a theory. So that's another reason why I think it's a good creepypasta, because it never explains anything and lets you come up with your own theories and assumptions.
Rainbow Dash's Torment
What you're about to hear should be taken with a grain of salt, as not everything is completely confirmed. If you were involved in the brony fandom, you're probably familiar with certain infamous animations like Cupcakes HD, Smile HD, and even the canceled Rainbow Factory fan-made movie. But among all those peculiar videos, there's one animation that few, if any, mention: "Rainbow Dash's Torment."
You might be wondering what this strange fan-made project is all about. According to the limited information available, it's an interactive animation created in the Adobe Flash engine by the user "AppleEyelessJack415." Not much is known about its creation date, although it's theorized that it was made sometime between 2012 and 2013.
The "animation" consisted of static scenes with audio that told a story. It's worth noting that there were two options in the bottom two corners:
(Bottom left corner) Quit: As you can imagine, this simply took you out of the animation.
(Bottom right corner) Skip: This took you directly to the next scene.
The story, according to many users, was as follows: On a normal day in Ponyville, Rainbow Dash tries to get her friends' attention by performing one of her many acrobatic stunts. Everything seemed relatively normal until, unintentionally, she makes a mistake and falls to the ground. This triggers laughter from all the ponies present, including her own friends. A frequently mentioned complaint is that Rainbow Dash's voice sounded like a poor attempt at imitating the original; furthermore, the audio sounded as if it had been recorded with a cheap microphone from that era, resulting in constant background static. Literally everyone, except for Rainbow Dash, was out of character (OOC).
The remaining scenes showed Rainbow Dash trying to speak normally, but the others didn't take her seriously, even resorting to cruel mockery. Even Fluttershy, the kindest pony, ridiculed her. This caused the pegasus to burst into tears, but the laughter only intensified.
In the final scenes, a gaunt Rainbow Dash, with bloodshot eyes, stared at herself in the mirror. Slowly, she turned to face the viewer with an expression of confusion and hatred, saying, “Why didn't you do anything? Why didn't you leave to end my suffering? Was it just for morbid curiosity? Why didn't you hit the damn Quit button?! Just because you like seeing me suffer?!”
In the penultimate scene, Rainbow appeared sitting on a dark floor, staring at you. Below her was text that read: “Am I just a joke to you?” If you tapped Skip, the message "Well, I think I know" appeared, followed by a jumpscare of Rainbow Dash with empty eye sockets and an extremely wide-open mouth, letting out a distorted, distorted scream. The background consisted of endlessly swirling, color-changing vortices. Currently, only screenshots of that strange animation remain.
Very little is known about "AppleEyelessJack415," his reason for creating it, or the identity of the girl who provided the voice. In June 2015, the creator was contacted via Facebook. When asked why he made the animation, his response raised more questions than it answered: "To vent." He hasn't said anything about it since. Regarding the voice actress, the creator claimed to have her number, but nothing more; all theories about her identity have been debunked, and her whereabouts remain a mystery.
One detail that isn't often mentioned is that, in the part where Rainbow asks if it's a joke, the "Quit" button would disappear. You were forced to press "Skip" and get the jumpscare. Furthermore, according to some users, there was a chance that during the jumpscare, Rainbow Dash would merge with the psychedelic background. Others claim that her expression in the mirror changes slightly each time you reopen the image file.
This is all that's known at the moment about this strange case. Currently, only very short clips of user reactions exist. The animation was deleted years after the creator's interview; it's unknown whether he deleted it or if it was banned, and its current whereabouts are unknown. But what is certain is that, sometimes, the unknown can be a thousand times more terrifying than what we know by heart.
