I'm 57 and finally getting serious about my health. My doctor just put me on 20mg of Crestor, and I'm really hoping that will have a solid effect because I already eat pretty healthy and don't drink too much and I'd be unhappy to make more drastic lifestyle changes such as a vegan diet. I'm 5'7" and 160lbs but I run a 3 miles a few times a week and do yoga. My blood pressure has been creeping up over the years and now is stubbornly at 140/88 and I definitely want to do something about that. Are there other things that I could do to help these numbers? I've read here that people have some dietary success by adding oats for breakfast and some supplements like psyllium.

I'm cooking a dinner for 12 this Sunday in Texas and I'm really stumped on a main dish. It's my wife's family, they are not particularly adventurous so I like to keep it mostly traditional. To keep it simple I was going to shop at Costco and get a few premade things like their bag salad with a creamy dressing and cranberries. I'll make Ina Garten's curried couscous salad which everyone always loves, plus it's easy to make the day before and tastes even better the next day. I'll get a bag of rolls. Do I make a roast of some sort? I've never cooked for this many people. I make beef bourguignon for 4-6 people sometimes but have no idea what to do for 12.
