Need some advice on setting up a (semi) cruiser.

Hello there everyone!

I want to build my first (mostly) cruiser board and after a bunch of research, I need a bit of advice on the trucks, wheels and bearings.

So far I only plan to ride around with it and that will stay the most important aspect. But since I know myself, it wouldn't hurt if could at least try some very simple tricks like shuvits, some other old school tricks and maaaybe an ollie on it.

I wanna use the pictured Powell Geegah deck with Independent 159 or 169 Stage 11 trucks, harder bushings and 1/4" risers.

From what I gathered, there are 3 wheels suited for me and I wanted to know which ones would fit the most.

- Powell Peralta SSF G-Slides 85A 59mm

- Bones ATF Rough Riders 80A 59mm

- OJ Super Juice 78A 60mm.

Other suggestions I don't have on my list are also welcome.

And lastly, as for bearings, Bones Reds were pretty much a no brainer at first. But then I found two upgraded versions in a still decent price range, the Super Reds and Race Reds. I also found Bronson G3 as an alternative. Has anyone experience with them and could tell me which ones will be more durable/faster in the long run? Thank you in advance!

In need of a skateboard backpack but part of the cult? No Problem! (K25)

So I want to build myself an 80's style cruiser skateboard this summer and was looking for a way to transport it through crowded places without buying a dedicated skateboard backpack.

And the solution was so simple and easy that it was the 4th thing that came to mind. Just put the two 25mm buckles that came with the Kahakka 25l on the compression straps. I replaced the buckles on the top flap with G-Hooks the moment I got the backpack and completely forgot that I still had them, I was even about to order new buckles.

I hope it's clear enough on the pictures but I simply put the female end behind the G-Hook on one strap and the male end in front of the other just by weaving through the loose end of the strap. No replacement or cutting off the end of the straps needed.

As you can see, I only got the deck so far and that's only a first test. I'll see if this setup still works with the added weight of the trucks/wheels.

Or if the griptape will shred the material of the Kahakka somewhere down the line. (<- Yeah, right...)
